Egg whites = low fat high protein!
Egg yolk = contain all of the egg's fat and cholesterol, and about one-half of the protein!

You know the cholesterol in egg yolks won't increase the cholesterol level in your blood, right?

Hmm....I shall allow cable machines as I occasionally do woodchops with them on my light-lift days ;)

The signature is apparently an old Celtic proverb, I found it when looking for things to etch on my LARP armour in Ogham :)

I max out on the high and low and wide seated cable rows when I can't get on the bar to do deads.

I wait and glare at the posey boys who curl on the squat rack.

I'm not that menacing, in fact I'm usually fairly polite and ask when they'll be finished on the platform, then spend the time collecting all the weights I need, plus a bench and set up as soon as I'm on there :) Apparently it's been noticed that I'm very efficient haha!

One arm lateral raises on the cable column, that is a killer for the core it's really tough not to lean to one side. One arm anything cable really.

The most helpful suggestion I can make is if your gym does any classes be they body pump, boxercise, zumba, ciruit training, spinning - then do a different one each day you go the gym in rotation.

    The reasons for this is:
    1. You will be pushed to work yourself hard enough - at the moment I strongly doubt you are working hard enough in your cardio session.

    2. Lots of the classes involve both cardio and resistence work

    3. In every class the instructors will teach you the correct techniques to warm up, to cool down and to stretch. In the more dancey classes you will be taught the correct technique to do stomach exercises. In the weights classes you will be taught the correct technique to lift free weights. All this will help you when you find you either can't afford the gym at some point or want to do other exercise i.e. take up cycling or running.

If you have to work out in the gym for some sessions then do everything on the cardio machines in intervals that way your 35 minutes of cardio will benefit you. Start with 1 minute very hard then 2 minutes slow then when you are fitter in a few weeks extend the time you spend doing hard exercise by 30 secs.

If you have to use a treadmill always use it on an incline whether you are walking or running so you actually have some decent resistence.

Oh and the part I find hard losing weight on is my thighs and bum. However I discovered that running outside was the way to tone up with resistence exercises for the other parts of my body. I should point out once I got use to running all my routes incorporated small hills and then large hills. That way if you like eating things like bread you can.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

A bench? Are you pressing in the squat rack or doing box squats.

I just do my weights on a low weight so that I tone up but will not end up looking like those bodybuilder women ( unless that's the look you want?)

This is a common misconception about women lifting heavy weights. You will NOT bulk up like the bodybuilder women, because they take something extra to get them that big ;)

Women don't produce as much testosterone as men, which is why it is not physically possible to end up looking like a female version of the hulk lol ;)

Lifting weights is great for toning and conditioning your body. Don't use the barbie pink dumbells, build up to the heavier ones and you will see a difference. Bodyweight exercises are good too (squats, lunges, pull-ups/chin-ups, push-ups). You could add weights to the squats and lunges too, by carrying dumbells, if you want to work even harder.

Lifting weights also burns fat, as your raise your base metabolic rate and therefore increase the number of calories you burn even when resting.

Free weights are best - the isolation machines aren't great because they prevent your body from utilising the full range of movements.

I have taken 2 inches off my waist but this is a combination of exercise AND diet - with diet contributing 80% towards your weight/fat loss goals.

I don't do long periods of intense cardio either, I will do a few short bursts (1 minute each) of sprinting on the treadmill once a week and the rest of the time I will walk on the treadmill on an incline to get some low-level cardio. I also do the weights too.

Keep going though - it's better to see gradual results than go 'all out' and crash a few weeks in.

Try googling Paleo which is my personal health plan, I've lost over 5 stone now and all I've done is "eat clean", and eat a cheat meal once a week, if its processed I don't eat it!

I aim to eat Paleo each day as well. Mark Sissons' book The Primal Blueprint is good, although I think it allows for more 'cheats' than Paleo.

If anyone knows a good hot chocolate recipe I can have which is paleo/primal then that would be great as that is my one vice :rotfl:
