Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

Thank you for another thread :) Well i literally only have £40 to last me till the 4th of March, so going to budget myself £30 for the week please. Roll on payday!
  • Afternoon everyone

    That's a great low spend bt1

Still not 100% on my budgets

    I'm thinking -

    £20 petrol
£25 groceries - running low on a few bits.
£15 spends - going to the cinema on tues, full price. don't think I have anything else planned this week.

    =£60

Seems like I am always going to be spending around £60 per week. Maybe slightly less on weeks when my spends are less but even so, with groceries and petrol...

    Hello

I went over budget last week so need to actually plan my budget rather than just pick a number
    so
    Monday £15
Going to see wicked, tickets paid for. Wagamama for dinner. I will be taking lunch to work so should be only spend of the day.

    Tuesday £25
Meeting friends for dinner at Nandos. It is my tuen to pay for one of them, so £25 should be enough. Taking lunch to work so should be only spend.

    Wednesday £5

    Thursday £5

    Friday £5
I have nothing planned on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday but will put down £5 just incase  Hoping for NSDs though as I will be taking lunch to work.

    Saturday £10. SW and Lottery

    Total for week £65
This should be do-able now I have actually planned it.

Edit-sorry my adding up skills failed me. Total budget for week is £65!

  • Thanks for the thread ETO.

No luck finding a cardi so I'm declaring green for last week. £9.70/£20.00

Can I pledge £60.00 this week.

I'm off to London on Thursday (to do an exam unfortunately) but may find my way to the shops :)
  • Hi all

I desperately need to keep my spending under control. I'm already over budget for February so for the last week could I please pledge £5? Just in case I need a quick top up shop (I've meal planned so I shouldn't!) Hopefully I will do much better for the whole month of March but I may as well limit the damage I've made already in February! Good luck everyone :D

    Hi all

I'm going to pledge £15 again but this week will be tough!

I am meeting a friend on Thursday night and we'll be getting something to eat - pub food so I'll keep it as cheap as possible.

If I can make it the third week on the row of not buying any lunches for work (I used leftovers from last Sunday's roast for lunch every day last week!) and avoid the impulse choccy buying during the week then I am sure that I can do it.
