Have tried to post the photos but as a newbie, it seems I am not allowed to. If there are any other options available, will happily share the pictures.
Also an update :Husband has spoken to various people at Wickes this morning, including the Manager who is now 'moving it on'.
They will be coming to replace the original 1000mm and 500mm units that fell and will check and if necessary, will reinstall the others. They have assured us that it will not be done by the original fitting team and that we will be dealing directly with the company through the store not the fitters at all now.
Husband also mentioned that last night after speaking to the fitter offering the 'goodwill gesture' that he had been told that if he chose to seek compensation etc then Wickes would probably withdraw their offer!
Store manager took more photos including some of the inch long screws (and there is no arguing with those) and whilst he said that officially he couldn't commit either way, said it was clear from what was left that the unit had just slid off the wall. As a DIY novice, if I hadn't have asked on here, I would not not have known that the length of the screws was significant.
We won't be contacting the home insurance company. Wickes head office will now be dealing with our request for compensation. We just want the crockery and items in the cupboard replacing, despite the cosmetic damage to fridge freezer and flooring. These units were in no way overloaded, not that this has been implied by the store. It has been recommended that we empty the remaining units until they are checked out properly. Again, thank you for the advice.0 -
hopefully a good result, if you up load the pics to one of the free pic hosts then just put the link(s) here someone will post them up for you, just remove the www & the forum will think it's just normal words, if that doesn't work just put a couple of spaces in the link(s)I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

Thanks. Have had a go. If someone else can create the link, that would be great

I'm afraid I'd be claiming for ALL damage. Including the fridge and flooring.

Thanks for the link aliasojo. Maybe need to reconsider the claim then? We have not discussed details with yet, but I am compiling lists of damage ready for when we get that far. So glad we took photos before cleaning up.0

Speak to Wicks & insist that someone comes out to inspect the install & not the installer or one of his mates, wall cupboards should not be fitted using 1" screws also really they should have used brown rawplugs but i bet they are red, if this cupboard has been fitted using these screws then you can bet that all the wall cupboards are the same.
I would insist that Wicks replace the damaged wall unit, remove the remaining wall units & check the screws & replace as necessary, repair any damage caused by this badly fitted wall unit, make a list of everything that is damaged & take loads of pics
This. I would want all cupboards checking.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
What a scary experience. I too would be wanting all cupboard fixings checked and replaced if necessary as well as claiming for ALL damage including fridge and flooring. Please keep us updated.0

Thank you.
Having seen the photos I will agree that it's a poor effort.
Looks like drywall fixings? If they are then Wickes own instructions say they are not suitable.
Fitter should know better.
Wickes seem to be dealing with it quite professionally. Hopefully you will get a speedy resolution.Ask to see CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineering)0 -
Also add up the hours spent cleaning up, cost of phone calls, cost of you OH travelling to see them and a good chunk for inconvenience as this is nothing short of negligence.0
