Catriona's Credit Card Countdown

Well, my lodger left me the rent money in an envelope, together with a sweet note. To be honest, she kind of needed to sweeten me up, as I've been picking up her cleaning
But it's all good and I went to pay off my credit card, the one I use for every day stuff, not a balance transfer card. So that's now down to £17 which I'll transfer to it at some point after I get paid. Feels like my affairs are more in order now. A small step in the right direction.
Now time for a bit of studying. I'm going to get my shopping delivered next time I think, I spent far too much of my day off in a supermarket! Not doing that again next Wednesday.
My ex is coming over after work this evening, we will have a look at the cv and I'll cook him dinner in return. He really helped me yesterday. We are such a pair!* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Thank you
The link was a good read, she has many good points! I found the hardest part when I was ill, or we were both ill at the same time. And of course it hurts that no one loves DD like I do, I dread to think how she will feel as she gets older.
My goodness the lab assistant I couldn't have tolerated. I can not stand lies, white lies or not, they are lies! My first thought would be 1) too needy, desperate to impress. 2) big headed and thinks he is a lot better than he is. 3) ashamed at where he is at = low confidence. None of which are attractive to me.
The great financial position guy again a lie, except a big one! It makes my bloody boil truly does.
I think its because I have a lot of empathy for people so actually I could understand that someone has been through a hard time financially or isn't happy in his job or whatever, as its in my nature to help, for want of a better phrase I do like to fix people. So lies I take personally, they truly offend me, ever since childhood they have been my biggest bugbear!
My favourite ex, I'm still very good friends with him now, we separated due to work taking us in different direction early on in our relationship, we stayed really good friends, he helped me get out of the area when I needed to. He is the most indecisive I know. He was kind and we got one well, but it meant I didn't really feel loved like really really loved. I couldn't live with the indecisiveness - it was the right outcome because he still hasn't changed lovely, kind, a real gem. Just hasn't got that urge, or fire in his belly.
That's easy to say about your ex husband, but something must have made you unhappy. Even if he is perfect, there must have been important to you at the time to make you want to leave, not only that but to the point of divorce. He may be one of those people I mentioned, meant to cross paths but not in the way you thought, a lifelong friend?
Dating is good, and is mostly fun if nothing else!
We are lucky that we can have children alone nowadays, I will warn you though it will be the hardest thing you ever do. That said, regretting not having children as you get older may be just as hard! Just prepare yourself well, have you got anyone close nearby to lean on? If not, could you or would you relocate to have a support network, nearer to family etc?MFW

Thank you for your message Catriona. I think you do deserve it as you have achieved it yourself and also yes ,you have made bad decisions but don't we all. Its just how you have handled them;they havent stopped you.
I wish I had your ambition sometimes then I would aim higher at work but now I have dd. I don't think its worth the pay off.
Interesting reading about the types of men. Hope it all works out for you.0 -
Hi Catriona
Great stuff about the firm mortgage offer and that your lodger has coughed up! Hope she pays on time in future. She's lucky you're understanding

3 days for you and 5 for me. That's definitely touching distance! We should have a pay day celebration!
Can't believe how quickly it's come round! The month has whizzed past me. Think it's the long days at work. Its not bad though!
Two possible interesting dates on the horizon. And the ex:eek:* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

Another early morning, and so close to pay day. It will all be worth it when that money arrives! Think this month I'll break through the barrier, where my savings will reach 50% of my current debt. Can't wait. It's always good to have something like that to spur me on.
I keep thinking of another venture, selling my house and renovating another one perhaps, I loved the planning and even the sorting it out. I reckon I could get it done quite well. Also my neighbours can be a mare, and now is a good time to sell. My lodger's house had 5 offers over the asking price within a couple of days, and is now sold, they are just going through the process.
Trying to think of being more expansive. It would be a shame about the girls, and the house is a good little earner, so I would have to sit tight for a few more months, until I get my savings up. And also there is nothing for sale at the moment that I would like! So just for now it's a pipe dream. I will have to bide my time until the time is right and the stars align! It's good to dream.* * * Catriona's Credit Card Countdown * * * from -£16k to debt neutraldom - for my debt diary click here

That's a huge achievement Catriona, to be half debt neutral. :T:j Another 50% then you're there!
So much to think about isn't there?! With all this debt busting, and studying you're working your way towards something, and when the time is right, boom, it'll happen! It's exciting :T:j:)

Good news for me today. Mortgage company sent me a letter to say valuation received and it's now a form offer. Now only the legal bits to do, and hopefully next month I'll be paying £450 and not nearly £600'per month for my mortgage. That's reassuring, esp in view of poss redundancy!
Off to the theatre soon, can't wait! Yippee!
Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back — concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.“
