Oh but it is since I have it in writing from a few agencies they can not help you if you are not in work as their clients want working people. I never let them tell me this on the phone so I can show the work programme.pompeyrich wrote: »Not sure if it is "proof", 2 of my last 3 jobs were gained through an agency, I was working my notice period prior to redundancy, so not technically unemployed and the agency concerned specialise in my type of work.
They passed on info on what the employer wanted, based on having met them, they helped with my CV and boosted my confidence.
Like any service providor, there are good and bad, I've had great, average and absolute rubbish treatment from different agencies so wouldn't want people to dismiss agencies out of hand. Any lead is a good lead, whether it be from the paper, an agency or direct from the employer, the trick is keep trying and in the end you will get "lucky".
Plus an interview I got last year was one that an agency advertised and told me the company would not want to see me so I did some detective work found the company online and emailed them and got an interview the very next day. I know I never got the job but agencies are missing out of a large fee if they have a bad attitude like this. The company only interviewed people in the end who had come via their site. We’ve had to remove your signature. My old boss has just got a new job and the 1st question 2 agencies here asked him was 'are you in work' and he asked one if it matted and they said 'yes we wouldn't be able to help you if not'.pompeyrich wrote: »Ok, our experiences are different re agencies, as I said I wasn't truly out of work, so maybe that helped.
They are either too lazy or the clients they deal with do not want to interview people wtih no jobs and if that really is the case what else are they telling agencies? No immigrants? No old people? No one of child baring age? The list goes on.We’ve had to remove your signature. Just wanted to wish you luck. It's not easy getting interviews never mind jobs these days so to get three in a week is very good going. Hope you are successful.0

I think interview practice helps a lot in preparing for the job of your dreams interview - especially if it's in the same field of work. I would have no hesitition in going to these interviews.0 -
I think you should only got for an interview that you would take if offered ot you are taking the place of someone else who may REALLY want the job or need itLadyinBlack wrote: »I think interview practice helps a lot in preparing for the job of your dreams interview - especially if it's in the same field of work. That's not fair how on earth can you keep interview practice up. If you go with intension of not wanting job it makes no difference the second in line will get the position. healthy competition hurts no one.All the big powers they've silenced me. but the third who they may have never interviewed or the 4th or 5th may have missed out. That's not fair how on earth can you keep interview practice up. If you go with intension of not wanting job it makes no difference the second in line will get the position. healthy competition hurts no one.
Not everyone is what they are like on paper. Plus its not for potential eployers to train you in how to take an intweview at their time wasting expense. We’ve had to remove your signature. Your not telling anyone that you are going for interview experience, everyone who goes has some chance of getting the role on offer. The best person may not want the job for various reasons, maybe not what he thought it was going to be for example. I went for a job interview as the description involved some teaching (practical cookery) This is why I went for the post. When the interviewer asked me what appealed to me about the job and I said the teaching part, he said that the description had changed. Well It also changed for me at that part, so even if offered the job I would not have taken it. Purely for that fact.
The interviewer doesn't know if you ant the job or not so its not wasting time. Think of it another way, applying for a job that does not exist, going through the application process and having a great interview, walking out with a big smile on your face to get a call that that you did not get the post. There wasn't a job in the first place but because of the equal opportunity rule they had to interview.
