Someone else's twins.

First thing is that you and your family are wonderful and a credit to humanity. You put most of us to shame.
As others have said the mothers claim for child related benefits are fraudulent. Second is that society has a duty of care to those children via social services.
I would expect that as far as social services are concerned the twins are off the radar as they are safe and in good hands. They have probably been forgotten under the mountain of other work they have to deal with.
As well as the other good advice you need to contact social services, they aren't going to take the twins away but they should and will make sure you get the support you're entitled to. They should have done this in the first place.
I'm sure the parents will make a fuss but social services will support you and take the necessary steps to prevent the twins being removed by people unsuited to look after them, whatever their reasons. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Thanks again everyone. We're arranging a chat tomorrow with the appropriate solicitor and moving things forward. I feel that both parents will independently support the SGO route so we should have no problems. Will post update soon as I am able!

Thanks again to everyone for the motivation and information!Spacker (plural spackers) (Britain, slang) A spack; a clumsy or foolish person.0 -

As I've read this thread, I think there's some fantastic advice in here, but I have a few questions.
OP, how old are your parents? And are they in good health?
How old are you? Do you want to be involved in this SGO?
You see, I don't know if it's possible for all 3 of you to be named on the SGO, and I don't know if you'd want to be, but looking to the future it might be worth investigating, especially if either of your parents are older and / or not in the best of health.
You can probably see where I'm going with this: Mooloo's been mentioned a few times, she has SGO for one of her granddaughters, who is a similar age to these twins. It is very hard work, and Mooloo isn't in the best of health. There are a lot of other problems as well, which don't help one little tiny bit, but it might be worth establishing NOW that you have as much responsibility for these two as your parents.
Of course that could be a bit limiting of your own life choices, and if you don't want the formality then fine, don't feel you HAVE to have it, but it could potentially save some grief further down the line.Signature removed for peace of mind0
