No I didn't fix the problem, was very tempted to instal avast but I just want to see if the problem actually gets fixed first, then I still want to try Avast

I'm with virgin media too. I had thought of that as a possibility but there are a lot of people on virgin media so perhaps there would be more people with the problem unless its an area thing, I'm Nottingham area. Another thing is some people may not have noticed yet with it being bank holiday, I only noticed on Saturday because I tried to manually update later in the day aswell as auto update in the morning

Another weird thing is I can get on the grisoft site but if I try to link to the free forum it always tells me internet explorer cannot view the page, thats another reason I wondered if its to do with virgin media because other people I've asked can all view the forum

Guess what i also live in Nottingham. Near the city centre. That probably narrows down the cause of the problem. What i will do is ring my relatives up north (west yorkshire) who are also on NTL and see if they have any problems.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

I've asked people in other areas that are on virgin media and they say they can update so far but not asked anyone else in Nottingham as most people I know arent using AVG apart from my daughter and her computers broke at the moment. I'm not in the city center about 6 miles out but it could be same as far as virgin is concerned

Can you get on the grisoft avg free forum?
    Thanx

Could this be an NTL DNS problem? Try using an alternative DNS like OpenDNS.
 Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:

Thanx I could have a go at that but I'm going to call Virgin tomorrow to see what they say first coz knowing me I'll get into a pickle with that DNS server. Ive saved the link though as it looks useful :)
    Thanx
