    It's a start Bas, it's a start.

I've just remembered the last time I did physical exercise   . Alright I was smoking heavily at the time, but it was only 400m at nearly killed me!!! I've got twelve times that to do this time.

Right - Monday it starts permission allowing....

Hope the quietness means that everyone is getting on with their happy smoke-free lives :D

going well seemed to have adjusted to the 1mg dose ok, but boy are the dreams weird:D

I am avoiding all smokers at the moment to not tempt me, Its true what they say about habit smoking, i have no withdrawal symptoms due to the tablets, its the triggers that get me, say like during a tea break at work or after a meal at home, purely habit. Haven t tried the pub yet!

So far so good, if you get ratty when giving up, then these tablets should help a great deal, so far they have worked for me.

Just been trying to catch up with the thread, such a lot has been going on and think some of you have gone a bit crazy:T Running - what is running? I used to hate that when I was at school many decades ago, always tried to get out of it. But good luck to you all.

Bas - thank goodness you resisted and didn't light up, you would have regretted it so much. The number of times I have nearly got to that point in the last couple of weeks, but just know I would hate myself. I still really want a smoke with a drink, that is definitely the worst time. When will this feeling pass?

To be honest I don't really agree with Allen Carr when he says people don't enjoy ciggies, they are just feeding the addiction. I absolutely loved sitting down with a drink and a cig after a busy day, just found it so totally relaxing and now I do really miss that

Anyway I am off to have a beer now minus the cig of course.

    Keep up the good work.

Forgot to say, today is my 5 week anniversary. Seems a lot longer than that.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

I haven't got much time tonight so this is really a flying visit.

Just wanted to say well done basilcat - so proud of you for not giving in!!!! ONE MONTH CLEAN!!! It's a great feeling isn't it!!

Melbury, NO smokers believe they are smoking because they are addicted, they all believe they enjoy it and life without fags would just be unbearable and awful.

I honestly don't know how else to describe it. Your body craved a drug. When you sat down with your cup of tea, took some time out and gave yourself a dose of your drug via a ciggie, you felt relaxed. Because your drug cravings had been temporarily satisfied.

You will have no less of a "time out" now if you just have the cuppa or the glass of wine and the sit down. The only thing you are not doing is inhaling drugs at the same time.

At the end of the day, you are now a non-smoker and you have two choices. You can congratulate yourself on just about the best thing you've ever done and love every second of being drug free. Or you can mope about and think of all the APPARENTLY wonderful things you used to enjoy about smoking. If it was that great why did you quit? The only thing standing in your way of enjoying your quit and getting on with a longer and happier life is a positive mental attitude.

If you find yourself thinking about the "good" old days, STOP and make yourself think about something else. Or make yourself remember coughing up mucus on a cold winter's morning and looking at your grey complexion and tar-stained fingers!!! ;)
