Once again, I reiterate that absolutely no offence was meant by anything I have stated. It certainly was not meant to be patronizing and I can only apologise for stating my personal point of view. HOWEVER, I can't believe that I am the only person on this thread who smoked because I wanted to smoke and stop when I don't want to smoke and that it was like a hobby. Some people can sit and knit, sew, paint, draw, build things, I actually enjoyed sitting chatting on the phone and smoking a cigarette. I probably still would, but have decided not to as I'd rather take up a new hobby.
In conclusion, I shall wish everyone the very best of luck, I admire your decision to make a major change in your lifestyles and wish you all every success. I shall refrain from posting here for fear of offending anyone else, however, it isn't my fault that I'm not finding it any sort of challenge to quit smoking.
The thing is, if smokers thought their "hobby" was like painting or drawing they probably wouldn't need a support thread for help in trying to quit.... And as far as I'm aware, the worlds biggest killer has not suddenly changed to knitting or sewing yourself to death...
You are fantastically lucky to be in the position where you haven't noticed any withdrawal and - like I clearly said before - well done you and I'm really pleased for you. I hope - completely sincerely - that you always find your quit this easy and are never tempted to smoke again. All I did was ask you how supportive you think it is to the other quitters on here to read all about how it's apparently no challenge whatsoever. From what you have read on here, of the struggles of these amazingly strong people, do you honestly think that many of them will relate to that and find that helpful and/or useful?
If you don't mind me saying, you do seem very defensive.QUIT SMOKING 4/11/07 :j0 -
Thanks hun, i forgot to say well done for being a fab mum to,its hard being a single mum and you aswell as all the other single parents know the difficulties of it.You was lucky and fortunate enough to have your family although Im sure its not been always. The hardest thing is having to decide about things and not having the spermdonor as I call it to help decided. But hey in our situation(i dnt know urs much) we dont need em.To me my ex is just a spermdonor, he has never been a father to my son and sees him a few times in a year but now littleman is coming to 6 and is realising what his father is like with his own eyes. Its not nice but my son can never blame me for not trying. If spermdonor doesnt want to be a father its his loss and he will end up the lonely one and unloved.A father earns the title by being a father and being there for their child.all the best hun.xxx0

I'm a bit useless at this moneysaving/giving up smoking stuff and i'm beginning to have a sneeking suspicion I may (as a male) be in the minority somewhat on this thread.Hello i'm BrickingIt

day 13
Well I was having a read of that why quit website last night - ended up in tears from 1 of the stories on there. I was reading about the NRT patches and their not too brilliant success rate. From what they say on there I have been duped yet again and I wonder if that is the reason why I am never successful with my quit attemptsbut it is Sunday morning and at least I am not smoking now so that is the main thing. I think that instead of staying on the patches for 12 weeks I will use them for 6 to 8 weeks ( depending on how I am feeling ) I will do 4 weeks on the high strength then cut down to middle strength for 1 to 2 weeks then the same for the lowest strength. I know I can do it - actually have done it so many times. I think I need to read up more as my problem is staying quitted (is that a word) so if I read up more and hopefully it will help me 8 months down the line when I become complacent and have a stressful time and have 'just one' and am then hooked again.
Hope everybody has a great no smoking day:cool: Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -
Morning all, on day 13- hurrah me and all of us !!!
Hi Diamond 78- well done for being so honest. All of us have good reasons for giving up- sounds like yours is to stick it to your ex and give yourself the satistaction of telling him you no longer want to smell as bad as him !!
I found giving up easy in the first few days because I was so determined. I felt very lucky !! then the cravings kicked in........ but have dealt with them. Must admit I have found it easier than at previous attempts but thats because I really WANT to give up....
Just watched an old episode this morning of 10 years younger on On Demand- Virgin.
The woman is 52 and has no teeth due to heavily smoking all her life- looks awful. Another reason for me never to smoke again !!
Have a fantastic day everyone- stay strong !!!! xMTC's NO MORE PIES MEMBER NO 202 !!!
now lost 1 stone 9 pounds- size 8 !!0
