Excellent idea, I'm not usually that organised! Mr Jo normally stocks up with 2 large cartons of Tropicana and 4 litres of water in the fridge before he goes out ready for the morningDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Put one on before you go to bed and that'll help with the cravings in the morning and help you feel more focused about it0

Just put the patch on literally as you lay down to go to sleep after your last fag, if you're worried about overdosing on nicotene, just buy a lower dosage patch. You will be fine, trust me. Ask your GP's advice and get a prescription off of him/her for the patches and you'll be saving money too.DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

Bit nervous about putting a patch on after my last ffag but will think about it. I have bought 5 weeks of patches already and they are next to the bed!! How funny is that :rotfl:I've even got one out of the box ready ha ha! :rotfl:
I see my GP on a regular basis and she knows I smoke and has never told me to give up. I did tell her last time that I was going to try and give up but she made no comment at all, and she never offered me anything on prescription.0 -
Oh yes, on the money front, the patches are dearer than the amount I spend on tobacco a week!0

Tell her that you are seriously considering quitting and can she either give you a prescription for NRT or tell you were the nearest smoking cessation clinic is, if you have a big GP practice they will probably have one there. If your GP really is truely useless then google your local authority and have a look on their website for the PCT (primary care trusts) phone number, each local authority has one. Ring the number and ask them about smoking cessation clinics and where can you find one.
If all else fails, go to your pharmacist, even the one in Tesco, Boots etc. one of those will have somebody there that can set you up on a scheme.
They will ask you a few questions about how much you smoke, when you smoke, what are your triggers and then suggest the best NRT route for you. They will also monitor your carbon monoxide levels and stuff.

Tobruk, I think you just need to take the leap when you are ready. It sounds like your not there just yet - but it will come.Official DFW Nerd Club - member no: 538
