hopefully done the last big shop of the month. Got some bargain fruit, veg and meat from the market and should have enough to see us into April. The OH picked up a few things last week to top up. He ended up spending far more than was necessary and bought a load of carp that we don't need. Needless to say he won't be shopping alone again!:T Looking forward to the future :T0

damn it, just added up my spends and the total is more than I thought. Oh well at least all we will need to get is milk so may come a couple £ under.:T Looking forward to the future :T0

Sod them Becs! They have no idea who you are or what your circumstances are. L1dl carpark here is full of Audis and BMWs and the social welfare office has a queue of people in designer duds - both things I'm sure they were happy to buy when they had good jobs and now have to make them last! It's a recession - do people really need to go around dressing in rags to prove that they "deserve" bargains?? *gets off soapbox*
The antibiotics are working for me, so even though am really tired am starting to feel more human.Hubs also got a job this week, and we're over the moon! Proper hours, doing work he loves for a really good company. Contract lasts til the end of the year, which is great, and will lead to more work.
Made it in to the organic co-operative today and spent €35. Couple of shopping bags full of fruit and veg, a good stock up on dried beans, soy milk and cream, cereal, bay leaves, corn chips, veg gravy and a couple of choc bars. Am going to make myself pay for full membership in the next month as it means a minimum of 5% off every purchase and I'll need to be getting some cleaning bits soon, which they do bulk sizes of.0 -

Billie-jo - hope you all feel lots better soon
So, I was really late out of work tonight so DH did our standard Ald1 weekly shop. He (obviously) spent more than I would (!) but got our weekly essentials plus bits for when we're entertaining for £25.
I nipped to Mr M before coming home to get a couple of things we can't get in Ald1 and I obviously couldn't walk best the reduced section without checking it out and was delighted to pick up 4 braising steaks for £1.55 (down from£5) and a pack of pork mince for 55p (down from £2.50). This is where I had a really negative experience - another shopper said to me "you don't look like you need a bargain, you should leave it for others". I was pretty stunned actually. Admittedly, I was in a smart suit and heels, but does that mean I don't have the right to try and save as much money as possible? We do have good jobs but are desperately trying to save for a deposit and to have a baby.
Feel a bit down about it

Whole weekly shop for £21.96 today which I was very impressed with. We didn't need much but this includes a lot of fruit and some chicken breasts, fish and ham so very pleased. I was feeling a bit peaky so it was a whistle-stop tour of the shops and no impulse purchases, result!0

No food spends today :j And a bit of stock from the freezer all used up. My parents are coming to visit next weekend and are, as usual, spoiling us by bringing lots of food. So, should definitely be under budget this month. Debating spending £9 on 44 pouches of cat food that are on offer at the moment, better value as we normally pay £3 for 12, plus he only has 1 a day, so they'd last a fair amount of time!0
