What a miserable weather!
Went to Mr W this morning (had a voucher) for my big pre-weekend shop and spent £34.30. Have to say that this is actually quite low for us. Before reading MSE we would easily spend £60 or more. And that would not even last us the whole week!!!
Since starting MSE and GC I am making a mealplan and shop with a list. I still try to be flexible so that I can swap items if there is something on special or reduced. But by just using these tips I already feel like we're saving a lot on our grocery shops.
So BIG THANKS to all on the MSE forum and GS thread :T:T:T
Tonight's dinner will be egg fried rice with peas and leek. I will dig out some prawns from the freezer to add to it.
Then tomorrow we will have potato mash, runner beans and smoked sausage. The smoked sausage is from the Polish shop, bought it before I started on the GC challenge. Have not tried it before, so hope it will be good! Am thinking onion/mustard gravy might be nice with this.
And Sunday lamb cutlets (on offer), potatoes and various veggies.
Am already hungry!:D
Good weekend to all!0 -
Thanks mummies for the tips.
I don't drive so in walking distance i have co-op and tesco (but the metro one) I buy a lot of 'whoopsies' already (i go once lo in bed about 7pm-ish and get stuff for 20p) but don't seem to be so lucky with fruit! I do buy him blueberry's when they are £1 and cook them.0 -
£10 to add. Bacon, rolls, crisps, milk, eggs0

Hmm my post didn't go through! I spent 1.35 today on YS bananas and brocolli for brociflower cheese. Tried for a NSD but big fat FAIL
Approved food order just arrived too, so enough cereal to open my own supermarket.
Other spends were PO to send parcels but not out of GC.
Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be NSDs, as i really don't need anything else at the mo.GC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July £134.25/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Off on holiday this week i may have already mentioned this trying not to go ott shopping. Also attempting to get some more walking in so today i went to morrisons thats about 25 min each way then i went to tescos thenew one near me but i went too early for the. Reduced (well i still looked)
anyway the reason behind this post when atmorrs they had a plastic edger with reduced to clear morrs pork luncheon meat 300 g for one pound. Well i got one and went to the self service went home then went on to tescos i was putting the second shop away when i looked at the morries receipt i was charged 1.59 . So i went back, the shelf wabbler was still there and there was only one item missing mine. I got a 59 pence refund and it took me one hour round trip and a few more kilometres added to my pedometer lol .
So am I cheap going back for 59 pence or just mse lolGc 2013 +26 -5. -4 -7 -14 -15 -10.-8.20 +15p+30+5.80 Dec +9 GROCERY challenge 2014 Jan -2Feb -3 March -1.50 April +5.40 May +4.90 June -3.July 16.50/85
