I used to agree about UHT but my mum suggested I tried skimmed UHT as a stand by for semi-skimmed fresh, my family don't appear to notice when we use UHT now so mum was right.

I'll have a try of that, thanks!

Have just our second and final big shop of the month to use my last Aldi voucher. I have meal planned up until payday and bought everything we needed (except for fresh fruit and veg which will need topping up). I got extra milk and bread and put it in the freezer and stocked up on baking ingredients etc. By writing a list I got everything we needed for £40.60 but only paid £35.60 with using a voucher.
Two large shops so early in the month and a AF stock up has left us with just £36.80 and two weeks until pay day:eek: However, the cupboards, fridge and freezer are full and I have literally months worth of rice, cous cous, cereal, drinks and snacks. I have never spent so much so early in the month but thought it might be more cost effective. I really hope it doesn't backfire:o

I have no intention of going anywhere near a shop until the fruit bowl and the veg drawers are empty.

Have a good rest of the week

Evening! Today has been another NSD :D It's nice to rack them up, as I feel all too soon I'll be spending again. There's a few bits in the cupboards so that's good, and we only need fresh things for over the weekend.

Tomorrow will be a spend day as I need both those few bits and petrol, so it'll be a busy morning before work. Hopefully I can whizz around and get everything done - there's always the weekend if not. We had shepherd's pie for tea tonight, and very tasty it was too.

Have a lovely evening, everyone. Take care all.

  • Another NDS today :T

Very tired tonight & no inspiration to cook. Plus I forgot to take out food from freezer this morning :(. So was very tempted to order some food...but luckily found a packet of noodle soup and will add some veggies to that. Quick, easy, and cheap!

Had a jacket potato for lunch today, but I had still money on my staff card for that. Will have to put some more on my card but that can wait until next week, will record then.

Tomorrow not working:D , but will be busy cleaning the house and grocery shop.

Hope you all have a nice evening!

Evening everyone. Exactly half way through my month now, and I'm menu planned up until 4 days into next month! I'm hoping to not have to do a big shop until after the easter weekend now, I'm paid just before it, but I'm not home for the first 2 weeks of April so want to start using up bits and bobs. Spent £22.69 tonight, picking up the bits that I'll need as top ups and some ingredients I was missing for this weekend - cooking dinner for my boyfriends brother & the brothers girlfriend, thought I might actually follow a recipe for once! ;)

Hello everyone hope things are going well for you all.

Minor spend on Tuesday £3.75 on bread and salad.

Used £2.50 Tesc voucher so have put the cash into my 'points/voucher' spends pot which already has cash equiv of some nectar points used in Feb and a bit from advantage card points too. Doing this to build up a cash reserve and will come in useful when things are a bit tight.

Just done first proper shop of this month and spent £141.49 in Sains, including £5 on 3 storage tubs to finish off properly sorting out the baking supplies cupboard which will be another thing off my to do list.

Total so far is OK, will be getting a few household and toiletries in town on Saturday so will have to update again over the weekend.

    AFB.
