    Hi All.

I'm interested in joining this. Do you all plan your food for the entire month or by week?

    Many Thanks :)
This is my first time and I've planned until the end of the month, I'm learning/making it up as I go along. I'm going to pretty much empty the freezer, plan for next month and also plan what to buy to add to/build up a store cupboard to help me cook more stuff from
fresh. Good luck, it's a very enjoyable thing to do.

I used to plan a week at a time because I shopped weekly, now I do a big online shop each month so plan monthly. Just do whatever works for you.

Another spend yesterday of £5.88 at Mr M - I was glad to keep it a fairly small shop. We shouldn't need to go anywhere for food today, so I'm fairly sure it'll be an NSD here.

Freezer surprise tonight. I'm off to update my sig, get a cup of coffee and some breakfast, and think about starting the day.

Plan? Me? You've got to be kidding :D

I've developed a tendency to wander around the supermarket once or twice a week, pick up things I see that I think I'll fancy eating during the week (first stop always being the reduced to clear section), then work from that.

Problem is I often then don't fancy eating whatever, so a lot ends up in my freezers - and they're now full to capacity!

So I've changed tack this month. Rather than trying to stay out of the food shops I'm trying to drag something (meat/fish) from the freezer in the evening/morning, and then if I need fresh ingredients (veg and such) to complete a meal I'll go out for those and only those. Also allowing myself to pick up fruit when I know what I really fancy instead of stocking up on a weekly basis.

    I'm hoping this will

    1. make space in my freezer for a restock of good quality meats at food festivals (first in 8 weeks), and

    2. reduce the waste of fresh fruit/veg, which has been on the increase the last 6 months

  • Not much of a planner i have i rough idea what to have i am
just a reduced lover and a chest freezer filler hence i found i had a few packets of meatball this week when doing a rotation of the chest and upright freezer i try and not put stuff I may use soon in the upright but also because of the OH 's status as a man if its not easily seen "we don't have it " so ican hide a lot in that chest freezer of mine

Hello everyone, I'd like to join my first Grocery Challenge.

Could you put me down for
£80 please? That is to run from 1st to 31st March and is just for one adult.

I have no idea what I actually spend but I think £80 is reasonable for one person to begin with; my ultimate goal is to get that down to £50 per month.

I know I've already spent £25.50, although with that I have done a lot of batch cooking so have a freezer full of spinach and beef meatballs, pea falafels, burgers, roast potatoes, sausage casserole, greek filo pie, potato & sweet potato wedges and potato & sweet potato gnocchi! So that should keep me going for a while!

I drink quite a lot so I'm not going to include that in my budget and keep a separate one to work out if and how much I need to cut that! Same goes for eating/drinking out, another budget for that too.

Not a good start to my first Grocery Challenge!! £134.16/£300 already spent - most of which has been comfort shopping (doesn't look likely that I will be able to keep the house after all - very disappointing, to say the least :().

But, onwards and upwards, will get my act together today and make a list before popping to SM.

    Happy weekend everyone xx
