Well it's officially the first day of summer today , however it's absolutely pouring down in my neck of the woods. Nevermind, it's good for the garden.

Anyway, long time no see, I've been soooo busy with house stuff, work stuff, college stuff, loads of "stuff" really. I've lost my MSE focus a bit too - it just hasn't been at the forefront of my mind and the house needs quite a bit spending on it so it's harder to control. Anyway, I'm determined to get back on track and check in atleast weekly to maintain the focus.

    Scores on the doors:

Credit Card: £250 ish - curtains and track for the awkward bay window
    Loan: £1250/£7000 11%
    Emergency Fund: £150/£1000
    Baby Fund: £250/£3000

    Goals for the month:

    Loan: Get this to 6k
College: Pass my F3 exam (but it's soooo hard)

    Ideas for the future:

1 debt vs 100 days = get loan to £5500
Use Quidco to pay for Christmas = currently £15.05 in there but a fair bit tracked.

    JONESY!

I was wondering where you were. I know you will be fine on F3, you're just brilliant so you can't fail it. Remember to concentrate on your exam and house, money can be dealt with when necessary.

    Thanks KP :)

The exam was absolutely brutal, genuinely horrible... but i passed! :D:D:D

I celebrated with a starbucks, some m&s food and a game of swingball in the sunshine. Rock n roll

Next up is P3 and tuition doesn't start until July so i have a nice break to relax in (and of course MSE snoop).

I've also raised £50 on ebay and paid it straight to the loan account. Baby steps.

Told you you'd pass! Business analysis sounds interesting, are you looking forward to it or dreading it? My rentaccountant said that he hated it, but it's probably different for everyone.

Sounds like a great way to celebrate to me :)
  • Congratulations Jonesy, enjoy your break before 'school' starts again xxxxx

Thanks everyone :) i'm looking forward to it - by all accounts it's different to what i've done so far so should be interesting.

I've planned out a timetable to pay off my loan too. Its achievable and leaves room for us to still be able to make house improvements.

Basically i'll pay off 5% every month and finish in 2016.

Well it's the beginning of another month and wow, so far it's been a scorcher!

The house finally has curtains/blinds and next up will be chimney repairs and some roof work. Not very exciting but it needs to be done, especially while the weather is good.

    Scores on the doors:

    Credit Card: £1kish
    Loan: £2050/£7000 15% - 17 payments left
    Emergency Fund: £150/£1000
    Baby Fund: £500/£3000

    Goals for the month:

Work: Take packed lunches 4 days a week
College: Get prepared and do more home study

    Ideas for the future:

Holiday - need to think of a plan to save for €€€
Use Quidco to pay for Christmas: £58.05 confirmed

What does the chimney need doing to it, sounds scary.

Where are you thinking of going on holiday?

    Hi KP :)

The chimney apparently needs to be re-pointed - the guy who gave us a quote said to would probably need to be done before winter as the frost will make it worse and potentially unstable - yikes. The work itself is fairly cheap but the scaffolding it needs isnt :(

Anyway, from the negative to the positive - we're going to Majorca for 5 days in September. Its a very cheap holiday and we'll need minimal spending money so should be a nice little break without feeling guilty.

    Hello everyone

It's been a funny old month - at work i have been invited to apply for a new job. It's a qualified accountant role (which i'm 6 months away from) and is a promotion. I hadn't seen it coming as i'm not qualified so it's a bit of a surprise, but things seem to have gone well and i saw a few IT logs for me (for things i wouldn't need unless i had the job! :shhh:). So fingers crossed, i should find out for certain this week. Hopefully tomorrow!

    Scores on the doors:

Credit Card: £1785 - I WILL put a plan together for this.
    Loan: £1400/£7000 20% - 16 payments left
    Emergency Fund: £150/£1000
    Baby Fund: £750/£3000

    Goals for the month:

Work: Take packed lunches 4 days a week
College: Get prepared and do more home study

    Ideas for the future:

Holiday - I used my quidco balance to pay for spending money as i had quite a big amount confirmed.
Christmas: £70 left over from quidco. I've also purchased a few bits in preparation so i think i'll need about £120.
