Why give them an interest-free loan of £1800/year ?

Also, if their calculations and their customer service are that bad, why trust them with anything ?

And finally, what if the poster simply can't pay £260/month after budgeting for £110. I know I would struggle.

What evidence do you have that their CS is bad? (other than a load of newbies posting on this site ... and Sparks own site where it has been proven you don't need to be an account holder to post such comments?)
How much extra are you prepared to pay for better CS?
If you're not happy with them, then why would you go with them in the first place?
  • Genuine question as I do not know the answer: Not suggesting it's going to happen, btw, but if Spark went bust and you'd overpaid, what would happen to the overpyament?

I think you would be one of the unsecured creditors, same as if it happened to any other company.

As you said, it's unlikely to happen :)

They said Ebico would go bust because of it's allegedly unviable business plan ... yet 10 years on and it's going from strength to strength.

Why do you want to take matters further? You are saving 15% over the year. :T

But here is a link to their complaints procedure if you think saving 15% is any cause for complaint
    http://www.sparkenergy.co.uk/pdf/complaints/complaints_process_july_2012.pdf

I'm not saving 15%. The want to charge me £261 per month instead of their original quote of £109 per month. That quote would have been a saving of 15% but I'm currently paying way less than £261 with my current supplier, so why would I not take this further?
  • Appalling customer service .Dont answer phone or emails and write to you as if you are a tenant. Direct debit payments system earns them money not you.

Cancel your direct debit and tell them you've.done so.That's what I did.

Brilliant advice there by loobiloo ... NOT!
6.10 In the event that a Direct Debit instruction is cancelled during the term of this contract and before you settle our final bill:
    6.10.1 we reserve the right to charge a £10 administration fee which will appear on your next statement;
6.10.2 you will be obliged to pay the outstanding balance owing on your account immediately; and
6.10.3 for on-going supply, you will be placed on an alternative payment option and we will bill you at the price applicable to that alternative payment option as notified by us to you at that time.

Aah well in my case they've not even taken over my actual account yet. I've cancelled my account with them and they still want to take money from me, which is why I cancelled my DD. We are still in 'discussion'
    ;)

Based on what you have posted previously, I think you will find you are considered 'in contract' having passed the cooling off period a long time ago. ;)

Discussion involves 2 or more parties conversing together, otherwise it's just a monologue :D

    Enjoy your new supplier!

Well due to the fact they confirmed my original quote speedily and then waited until after the cooling off period to advise me of a revised quote of more than double, then I think I have grounds for complaint.
