Simply Switch not paying cashback
Hi All,
Just checking what experiences any of you have had with getting the £40 dual fuel cashback from Simply Switch, I'm currently trying to get them to pay up but they seem to be totally and utterly incompetent..
I switched to a dual fuel tarriff last October 2012 via Money Saving Expert, I qualified for the £40 cash back which would be paid "within 90 days".
towards the end of January, nothing received so I contacted their Customer Services. Got a 'stock' reply the same day
I can confirm that you do qualify for the cash back incentive; this is due to be issued in the account provided towards the end of next week. Any questions please let me know.
February arrived, still no cashback, so I wrote another email, got a reply a few days later:
I apologise you have not received the cash back incentive yet. I was told it would have cleared on Friday; however the accounts team have told me this morning that they have to re-issue all the payments today so the incentive will be cleared by the end of this this Tuesday/Wednesday next week at the latest. Sorry about the delay again.
It just reeks of a bunch of incompetents making up excuses. I've read on a few forums they can be very slow to pay up, but has anyone raised the issue with MSE? Since it was one of their links I clicked to get the cashback deal, so MSE will be benefiting financially from these cowboys.
If anyone has any experiences to share on how you got them to cough up, I'd be all ears.

Nobody had any problems getting cash back from Simply Switch then? I doubt it's just me..0

Only a few hours to wait now, if you've not already received the cashback :T
What's a few hours when you've already waited 4 months?0 -
What are you on about? "Simply Switch not paying cashback" - What's misleading about that?0

I have exactly the same problem. Been waiting since october last year. I have emailed them 3 times so far, and got exactly the same stock answer as rl4engm:[FONT=Times New Roman, serif][FONT=Cambria, serif]

I suspected it was a stock letter! Bunch of cowboys.
Well, companies don't like bad publicity, so to start It's worth contacting BBC Watchdog etc, if they've had enough people contact them they'll take it up directly
hxxp www bbc co uk/programmes/b006mg74/contact
And a few of the national papers have "Consumer Affairs Correspondents" correspondents too.
But going to go to Citizens Advice to see where to go to actually get the money I'm owed. There's things like Winding-up Petitions but it would probably cost more in solicitors fees so I'm not sure the best way currently.
Anyone got some advice for the best way to get monies owed?0 -
Have you tried calling the number on their website? (0800 011 1395)
I am calling them on Monday, so will let you know the outcome.0 -
Not yet, I've read on the other thread it's basically an answering machine and they never get back to you (Their 'Customer Service Department' has phoned in sick...)
But if you have any luck I'll give it a go (but using the geographic number 01942 710910 from saynoto0870 so I don't get charged!)0 -
Last used simpyswitch in the summer - was paid 121 days after switch date (85 days after go live date).0

OK Well tried phoning their "Customer Services" number, not expecting much, and was right not to.. First couple of times it just rang out, when it eventually did answer it was just a standard "We're unable to answer your call at the moment" (Probably too busy responding to customer complaints by email!) "But your call is important to us so please leave a message after the tone.." Which I did but I'm not hopeful of them getting back to me.
So, I've already written to BBC Watchdog to start with, I'd suggest other people do as well to hopefully bring this shoddy outfit under the spotlight. Just think how much the directors of the company are raking in at customers expense.
I've also got a couple of IT contacts that work in 'Reputation Management' (think google searches, search suggestions etc.) so they're going to see what can be done.
This in addition to the fees they earn from referrals, especially from Money Saving Expert, they're ripping off the very people that are trying to save money. So also going to be reporting them to MSE as well.
Extremely ****ed off at their attitude. And what happened to their 'Representative' that used to post on here? Probably retired to Florida.0 -
Finally got the money through on Wednesday.. 3 days after my last email sent included possible OFT involvement and dire messages on this forum. Dont know if that was the reason, but I received no email this time, just the money.
I get the feeling it pains them greatly to part with these cashbacks, god knows how many have just forgotten about it after so long waiting..0
