In case anyone else is interested 1.5kg bags of flour are 55p so 10p more than tesco value flour.

Thanks Sarah, let us know how the taste/quality stacks up against Tesco's as well?

Definitely agree that Lidl are more expensive for some things (compared to basics/value brands), but you probably need to compare the overall cost of your Lidl trolley, with your Tesco trolley, so would be interested to hear the results of your receipt-checking.

I've been Money Tipped! Debt-free and Proud!
I love Lidl jam..went in store to buy some yesterday, and the price has shot up to 95p!
    It has always been 79p.

Ok, it's only 16p, but i have noticed quite a few things in Lidls that have gone up in price.

Their yummy choc chip biscuits used to be 38p, then went up to 40p, and are now 42p.

There is an Aldi opening near me next month, so i am looking forward to seeing whats in there :)

Looking forward to next week's Saturday offer - 60 dishwasher tabs for £2!! :j

Ended up bulk-buying ten boxes of the dishwasher tabs when they were on offer (£2 for a box of 60 tabs), having already purchased one box. They are fab - our dishwasher is a little temperamental and up until now we thought that only fairy tabs worked in it (finish tabs didn't dissolve in it, leaving our dishes unwashed), but the lidl tabs together with rinse aid and salt are working like a dream, and we have squeaky-clean dishes with no residue on glasses etc.

I am now a lidl convert, having switched my main shop over from sainsburys some weeks ago. My tastebuds certainly aren't suffering, and my purse is happy :)

Sometimes the organic carrots have splits in them so then I won't buy because of possible bacteria issues. But when not split, the cheapest out there and really good to boot.

Still can't find those organic yogurts in my local Lidl :(

The Fresh Meadow organic Farmhouse is a tad crumbly but really tastes lovely. I buy it whenever I see it and shove it in the freezer for OH's lunches.

Sainsbury's has Montorsi prosciutto on offer at the moment. half price so same price as Lidl for 20g less. Supposedly extra matured but same age as the Lidl one. Lidl does sell more than one prosciutto though and it's the one with the gold crown 1.99 which I would give 5/5

You'll find that the pre packed salad bags etc come from the same company that supply Tesco, Morrisons etc: they have the same supplier codes on the bag ;)

I get about 90% of my shop there, and the rest I grab at Waitrose (speciality stuff, some meat cuts etc).

I find them unbeatable for overall trolley price (some individual items will be dearer than other supermarkets).

In particular, I'd say they have developed a really impressive range of luxury quality items at really good prices: They are excellent value for good quality wines, cut flower prices are unbeatable (we got a bargain for the obligatory mothers day blooms, at easily £2, 3 quid cheaper than anywhere else for equivalent!). Their kids easter and xmas sweets are brilliant, and their Deluxe range of luxury foods is consistent high standard for not-a-lot.

I'd say their packed lunch stuff was great: deli meats, cheeses, yogurts, apples, bananas etc. Also if I'm honest, because their stock isn't 100% consistent week to week, I quite enjoy the odd surprise item in the trolley: got a lovely looking crispy half duck waiting in the freezer! :D

I bought 2x 7.5kg bags of potatoes on the weekend for £7.99 I think it was, whereas one bag from Mr T is currently £5.49 and these are not inferior quality; I was amazed because one of these bags lasts us a month as well as taking into account the poor crops.

Also I noticed that Mr S had a 50% discount on their 400g strawberries making them £1.50 on the multi-save offer of 2 for £3, however Ms L had them for £1.29 each.
