Got a call from Aerial Direct this morning offering me a new contract - I too assumed they were O2; they had all my information. I'm not a business - will be calling O2 to complain about this later today.

I too just got a call, he said he was calling on behalf of o2, alarm bells rang immediately and I was googling during the call.
He tried to talk me out of upgrading to iPhone 5 by selling my current iPhone at CEX, pocketing the cash and buying another handset at a site he recommended, and using their tariff. I'm sure it's as above board as any website that offers deals on phone services but I do not plan to blindly follow his advice! My daughter in law is buying my phone from me and I already saw a decent upgrade deal whereby I pay less total for the handset than he was saying I would pay through them. He's calling back tomorrow but I will not be going with Aerial Direct.

  • They are still at it - We got a call this afternoon and its exactly the same scam... We had just called Vodaphone to get a PUK when we found they had a cheaper deal and could supply an Iphone 5 too... But Arial's Direct are saying we CANNOT CANCEL!

Been on to O2 and they are NOT happy as its making them look bad!
  • UPDATE:

We just had a phone call off Vodaphone as Arial's Direct REFUSED to honour the Statutory 7 day cancellation period and tried to switch us anyway...

Funny! But Vodaphone are well aware of this company and have had numerous experiences of them in the past...

I am now forwarding this thread to BBC TV and its WATCHDOG Program as this company NEEDS TO BE EXPOSED!!!!
  • O2 are aware and are not happy... But still going to inform Watchdog and Don't Get Done, Get Dom! See how the !!!!ers like that!

O2 are happy. Otherwise they would have stopped this a long time ago.
  • I wanted to say a big thank you for everyone on this thread. I had a call from Aerial Direct yesterday and typically they started luring me in with talk of being a partner of O2 and offering me a "good deal"

The salesman made a few age jokes which riled me a bit (I'm only 43!!!!) He then rattled through the terms telling me I was making legally binding agreement. Then they sent me an email and from then on I've been called about 6 times hassling me to sign.

As soon as I put the phone down I was worried and I got more and more concerned the more they harassed me to sign. So I did a quick search and this forum came up.

I rang 02 and they'd never heard of Aerial Direct. They looked at my account and offered me a new deal at half the cost of AD. I rang AD and they seemed to agree to removing my details pretty easily. I signed nothing, so hopefully I've had a lucky escape (and yes, learned my lesson!) But I'll be keeping an eye on my account just in case.
  • Same thing happened to me... They tried to tell me that I could not get a better deal from O2 direct. The very pushy sales person kept telling me he was going to "Fast-track" my application.. To which I replied I'm not ready to sign anything without looking into it first. I really hate these tactics. They even sent me the contact via email that only required e-signing.

I called O2 directly and in fact got a much better contract and deal.. My warning to you is... why deal with a third party when you can get a better level of customer service directly.

I ordered online two sim cards from O2 and a few days later, my husband got a call from a supposed O2 representative to make him a better contract offer. As he was abroad he gave the man my phone number, as the offer was exceptionally good, and he contacted me immediately. He wanted my bank details, which I refused to give, and then handed over the phone to his 'manager' to reassure me that everything is legitimate. They've sent me a message, which was from O2 UK, and asked me to give them the code that was included in it. They thought that this would reassure me but I was still sceptical. Their argument was that they must be from O2 since they called me and already knew I had ordered sim cards online from O2’s website.
When I told them I would gladly take this very good offer from an O2 shop, their answer was that this offer is only available today by phone. So, I hang up and called my husband to let him know.
Five minutes later, the same guy had the nerve to call me again and he told me he had spoken again to my husband who said it’s ok for me to give him my bank details... can you believe these guys? This is outrageous, why can't these people be stopped.
  • I have had the same thing with a guaranteed £22.50 each month whatever I use. Not £21.83 like Fluffdriver. I know not much but why should it be any different. Problem is for me that since I said yes I cant get my normal 3G signal. Message tells me I am not subscribed to a cellular data service. I was also told I would receive an email confirming all which I have not received. I thought this Arial Direct was part of 02 and accepted the 'once you have agreed this contract cannot be cancelled'... and its 2 years. After reading all in the forum I think I really aught to be contacting someone. 02 or Arial Direct? If its Arial Direct can anyone supply me with a number. Thanks
