Samsung galaxy ace
Can anyone help a senior with no techie knowledge. Thinking of getting this phone with a sim only on a 12mth contract for £7.50 pm on Tesco
250 mins, 5000 text 500mb data.
Question is could I use this allowance calling home from abroad ?
I am a very low user so I am assuming this allowance will be plenty for me
OR will I be better PAYG
Thanks for any help

100m+100t+400Mb are currently available for free from Ovivo.
That said, unlike Ace 2, Ace is a pretty old phone that was very basic even when it was released. For about £100 you can get much better Huawei G300:

Thanks grumbler I will have a look at that although I really don't understand it much.
I only want a simple phone for internet, calls and text. Not bothered about games and apps
I also have an ipad I can use with free wifi abroad.0 -
I agree with grumbler that Ovivo would be a good choice.
I use them with a spare phone and the whole process of odering and setting up was very straightforward/

Hi sorry if I confused anyone, told you I was rubbish at understanding all this stuff
Yep the plan was to buy the phone, around £100 then get the sim only for £7.50 per month for 12 months.
I went to speak to the guy in Tesco yesterday just for advice. Still not sure to go PAYG or the sim only
He says that PAYG the phone can eat away at you money as there is a lot going on in the background that you don't know about plus the updates so would be better sim only but they would say that wouldn't they, they want your money every month.
Still not made my mind up, I will think it over the next few days before I decide.
Thanks for all your help.0 -
The guy was right. Unless you switch mobile data off, on PAYG you need to buy a data bundle every month. 500Mb bundle costs £5 at Tesco.0

Grumbler is absolutely right - the Huawei G300 is a far better phone than the Galaxy Ace and can be had for as little as £80 with a bit of hoop jumping. The SIM only deal with Tesco can only be jusdged on your actual usage as if you use less than 100 mins 100 texts and less than 400mb data per month as Grumbler again says Ovivo give you this for nowt.0

I`m also new to this phone stuff - hadnt come across OVIVO before.
I`m looking for a low cost phone/contract.
Current option is Talk Mobile, via Carphone Warehouse. Sony Xperia Tipo phone with 175min, 5000txt, 500MB data. £7.50pm with £35 quidco cashback.
Is it possible to purcahse this Huawei G300 phone and unlock, to then use on the Ovivo network with the free SIM?
I dont know anything about unlocking etc!!0
