I do the same as Kethyr, although pink told me there was some mixed seeds available in julian graves- is that right pink?
Ive got a morphy richards fastbake, and usually just chuck in a 1/4 cup mixed seeds ( sunflower, sesame, poppy) I also use some oatmeal ( about 1.4 cup) in place of some of the flour- it nice. ( and cheap at 35p a bag
Can you make oatmeal BTW by jkust whizzing porridge oats with the hand blenderI bought oatmeal today its about 35p a bag from the baking aisle in tescos, sometimes Its by the porridge oats. Just had a thought I bet you can buy bran as well, a bit of tht would be nice in a loaf.
Ive bought granry flour before and used a half cup and the seeds in a white loaf recipe and its certainly made no discernble difference to its rising etc- although depending which one sometimes it has a split top, but thats no problem really
I uised to work in Mr Ts on the bakery aisle and also in the instore bakery.
Much of the products in the instore bakery are cooked from frozen, and filled with god knows whatr chemicals. I know exactly what goes into my loaves. theres nothing better than coming down the stairs to the smell of fresh bread.
A standard loaf from the shelves, your shops own, kingsmill etc would have sat at least 3 days in the back before getting on the shelf and probalby at least 2 days in transit. So it would have been baked at least a week before- adn it wil last before growing mould about a week in your breadbin. Think about what chemicals they have to put in a loaf to stop it going off in almost 2 wees  doesnt bear thinking about as far as Im concerned.
The only downer is they can be tricky to get right for sandwiches & they dont keep long. Im buying a slicing machine from Argos when I get my act together. ( about 30 quid) For midweek weve taken to doing the dough setting and making rolls, theyt seem to keep longer in a big tupperware than loaves.
the breadcrumbs you get off HM loaves are out of this world ( no honesly) and we do breaded chicken dippers, chicken fillet burgers, fish in crumb and not an e-number in sight :T:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

We've had ours about 5 years (Panasonic) and use it at least twice a week. We usually do a loaf of white/granary flour even quantities of each.
We've given up adding any salt at all and still get really good loaves from it.Make £2025 in 2025

The most ecomical way of buying seeds that I have found is, I think, from Julian Graves. I get them on offer when I can and I mix my own blend, usually sunflower, pumpkin and linseed, sometimes sesame, hemp, poppy. THey're usually more expensive if you get them preblended."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

i have used my mum's - i think it is a breville one for about 6 weeks now and we all love it, even my picky daughter loves the bread from it - only one problem, the little loaves don't last very long - so i saved up and ordered the panasonic sd 254 , it should arrive this week coming - i can't wait.
people look at me funny when i talk about making my own bread - but i love the taste

While we are on the subject of bread makers (again!)
, can anyone tell me of own brand flour that works? I am currently using Lidls which is fabulous and so cheap, but I have to travel a long way to that shop (buy four at a time). I tried Be-ro and it was a disaster. I have a Morrisons and Sainsburys close by and I think someone mentioned Tescos flour works ok? Cheers. I have the SD253 and use it mainly for the four hour white loaf.
