What makes you envious of someone else’s life?

Is it the stuff they have? The things they do? Qualities they possess?
Particularly given that we live in an age of social networking when people’s lives are posted for others to see, what is it that you envy the most?
I think I most envy one of my friends for how grown up she is and how put together she always seems to be regardless of what’s going on. I know she’s had her problems with things and I know things haven’t always run smoothly so I’m sure she doesn’t feel it but she’s always seemed to be a good 10 years older than the rest of us (in a good way – responsible, mature etc) whereas I feel like a child most of the time.
I should maybe note that I know jealously isn't a positive thing (although I'm sure we all feel it sometimes) but I think envy is different. I don't think it takes anything away from her or me for me to envy something she has. But I'm just curious about others and what you wish you had that others do.

I envy time. People that don't have the responsibilites I do and so have more time to do other things. I can't change the way things are though so I just try to be grateful for what I do have.0

People with long term partners and children, or in other words the traditional family unit. So that's just all my friends then!0

I can honestly say that I do not envy anyone.0

Those who don't seem to be struggling for money. Not the hyper-rich...just those who have it easy financially.

I envy my friend's sister who has a gorgeous figure.... but I don't envy the time she puts in to maintain it.0

Those who have friends, who know people they can spend time in the company of.0

those who travel a lot - which is something I'd like to do more of, and for now I don't have the ££ or the partner :-)
those with more children, I only have one and would be nice to have a larger family.
those who have a creative job, mine is so boring (or perhaps those who love their job, regardless of whether it's creative or not)0 -
I don't envy anyone because I know that what we see may not be a true reflection of how they feel, do or what they have. Seen too many 'perfect' looking lives come crashing down around their feet to believe all i see is true.
I guess i'd like to have a wonderful, loving, caring man in my life who could enjoy being part of me and my kids lives. I love the idea of a 'traditional' family life but the reality is often different...but guess if I was to envy anything it would be those that truly have that.0
