Looking for an Android phone deal, any advice?
Hi there,
I'm looking to get a new phone and was wondering if anyone here could help.
At the moment I've got a very old nokia, and I'm on O2 simplicity, paying £10 per month. I get about 400 minutes and unlimited texts.
I want a phone which runs android apps, I'd like some internet access too (doesn't have to be loads of data allowance) but I don't need hundreds of minutes talk time.
I went into Phones4u yesterday and was offered a Galaxy S3 Mini on Vodafone for £21pm for 24 months. Had 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb data allowance.
Or a Sony Xperia U, £17pm for 24 months. Had 300 mins, unlimited texts and 250mb data allowance.
Although I quite liked the Galaxy I'm not too happy at the price of £21 per month for such a long contract.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!

A contract is not the only way to get a new phone. You can buy it sim-free or PAYG and use on PAYG or a sim-only contract.
If you can survive with 100 minutes, then 100m+100t+400Mb are available for free. A decent Android phone that can do all you want can be bought for about £100.
And S3 Mini is believed to be very overpriced and poor value for money. It has very little in common with the genuine S3 except the look and S3 in the name.0 -
Thanks grumbler.
Any idea where I could get that deal for free?0 -

The decent android that I meant was Huawei G300 £65 from Tesco
The realistic price that you can get it for is about £100.0 -
Isme have more stock of the G300 but have craftily increased the price to £109. However, I believe there is still a £30 discount for opening a new credit account with them (you can still pay all at once by debit card btw).
PS There's also £7 cash back from topcashback.
PPS If you can't be arrissed to do all that the phone is available 'nearly new' direct from Vodafone for £80

Thanks guys that's very helpful.
I can only seem to find a £10 voucher for new customers, and then 7% cashback through a cashback site.
Any idea where I could find the £30 discount? Did have a quick search of the forums here.0 -
Don't worry, think I've found the code now thanks.0

The thread hasn't been expired so I'm assuming the code still works?0 -
How many mins do your actually talk?
Three has 12 month sim only deal of £6.90/ months. While for the phone, I would suggest you have a look at nexus 4, if you don't mind it is slightly expensive.0 -
Mins wise I think 100 should be okay for now.
Nexus 4 does look good but is quite expensive. Then again if its really that much better than the Huawei Ascend G300 then maybe its worth the stretch?
I've tried 3 codes for Isme and all of them were rejected even though I've been accepted into the credit option (

Certainly if you can spend more imo the Nexus 4 is currently the best value high end Android phone (it's a high end smartphone for a mid level price, basically). Yes, speaking as a very satisfied G300 user, my son's Nexus 4 is a way better phone. But it is a lot more expensive, of course. You pays your money etc....
PPS The code thing is a drag. I don't know of any other £30 codes I'm afraid.
£20 one here
