Deep down I think your OH would love it if you surprised him/her tonight with some valentines day flowers. I find it very rare that both members of a couple think Valentines day is a waste of a day. One person always says what you've said above and the other one goes along with it. Deep down they would love it.

Buy her some flowers on the way home, get the romance back into Terra_Ferma.....

don't need to get the romance back, it's always there, just don't need to wait for valentine's day to be romantic, that would be so sad.
If you love someone you don't need valentine's day to let them know, or buy a present, you just do it when it feels right.

But you sound sweet, you think about the other person rather than seeing it as an obligation. That's the important thing, there is nothing worse than someone who doesn't feel loved because their partner can't be bothered, today or any other day.

For some it is an important day, not so for others, however that is not the point.

The Op is quite right, the whole point of the order is for Valentines day and I do not think it is acceptable to send them the day after even if they do send double the amount.

I am in the same boat, plus it is my anniversary and my oh is away. Apparently these were ordered last week. He will not be using them again, no matter what the discount.

I just happen to think that romance is for every day of the year. I really don't buy into this theory that you're terrible if you don't buy your other half a gift in a specific 24 hour period. I'm pleased with receiving a bunch of flowers whenever, and if they were delayed by 24 hours I wouldn't mind. Totally don't buy into this valentines day malarkey.
There's nothing romantic about buying your other half a present and card to say you love them on a specific day because it's what's expected.

That's absolutely fine. Your opinion, perfectly valid. In fact, I feel pretty much the same.

That, however is not the point.

Someone else, with a different opinion, has had the effect they were planning spoiled and I don't see why they should be told they need a reality check and be grateful they got the flowers at all.

On a side note, I also feel rather sorry for the flower suppliers who, probably through no fault of their own, will have had one of their most profitable days in the year turned into a financial and PR disaster.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

I agree, people should get what they pay for, although I don't get valentine's day it doesn't mean that other people shouldn't think it's important.
However the company should have had some kind of back up plan, in case something went wrong. Flowers must be a tricky business, short life-span and delivery date absolutely critical, not much room for error there.

Whilst I understand the point about funerals, Arena Flowers have been let down by their flower supplier and, whilst inconvenient, there's nothing they can do about that.
Presumably, if ordering for a funeral you'd either call and try and arrange alternative flowers, or just cancel the order and order from somewhere else for same day delivery or pick some up.
It's inconvenient, perhaps, but hardly the end of the world.

It doesn't matter what you "just happen to think" though does it?

The simple fact is a contract is not being honoured as paid for in good faith. Your opinion is irrelevant.

I don't feel sorry for them. They must have known yesterday that they hadn't sent out the orders, yet waited until lunchtime today to inform anyone. Thus leaving it too late for many people to be able to pop to the shops to buy a decent bunch rather than the scrag ends that are left.
