Lower rate mobility untill 18th Nov 2013.
On a previous letter from last year when I was awarded DLA is says
"I have only awarded you DLA untill 18th Nov 2013 as to how much help you will need then uncertain. We will ask you if you want to claim DLA again before 18th Nov 2013"
So I am mystified as to what it all means, all I want to know is if I will have to claim PIP before Nov 2013 or will I be asked to claim DLA before Nov 2013 and then PIP sometime in the future after 2013?
You will continue to get DLA until Nov. Then instead of re-applying for DLA you will need to apply for PIP.
October 2013 – if an individual reports a change in how a health condition or disability affects them, they reach the end of an existing award of DLA we will invite them to claim Personal Independence Payment.
I have deleted some of this quote, as it is just confusing the matter.
But if you check post 7 you may be able to reclaim DLA. I can not find this info on-line, but have no reason to to believe it. Sorry if this just makes it more complicated.0 -
So looks like I will have to make a claim for PIP then this year before my DLA runs out afterall0

Thanks for telling me, I appreciate it. I would have preferred to have a little long without having to deal with it to be honest but nothing I can do now I suppose.0 -

No.......
This is not right.
If your award ends on or before 23rd February you will be reassessed under DLA

The following DLA recipients will begin to be invited to claim PIP:
-
Children turning 16 (with the exception of those awarded DLA under the rules for people who are terminally ill) will be invited to claim PIP when their existing fixed term award is coming to an end;
-
People reporting changes of circumstances which would affect their rate of payment (this does not include payability decisions as a result of going into a care home, hospital or prison or other changes of circumstances e.g. change of address). The rate of DLA will not be adjusted;
-
Fixed-term DLA award recipients whose award expires from the end of February 2014 (reassessment activity starts approximately 20 weeks before existing DLA awards end); and
-
Self-selectors (includes those with indefinite or fixed-term awards).

Only those whose award ends from the end of February 2014 (24th of February to be exact) will have to apply for PIP, althoutgh you can 'Self Select' i.e. volunteer.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

If only the wording wasn't written in such a way that ordinary people cannot understand it.
That, as I see it, is half the problem and creates false claims as people read the regs differently.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

the letter i recieved regarding the switch to PIP was contradictary and nonsensical , according to the website info i am not due to be challenged or changed over to PIP until my award ends in 2015 , according to the letter i recieved i will be challenged/changed later this year, if the DWP dont know what they are doing and dont make sense there is no chance of the OP knowing what is going on either, as for IBS a friend recently challenged ATOS over a decision regarding his depression and benefits , at the appeal the panel doctor skimmed through his notes and asked him to confirm that he suffered from IBS still as it was on his notes from years back, my friend said yes and the appeal was over with benefits reinstated despite him being signed off for something completley different !0

Where is that quote from? As thats not something thats on my letter? Is that maybe something on a different region? maybe different letters to different parts of the country say different things?
So basically I will be sent a DLA form not a PIP form later this year then? Even though my DLA is until 18th Nov 2013? and on the letter they sent me it says;
"If your existing Disability living allowance is due to end or reviewed on or after 7th Oct 2013 and you have not already received a renewal letter about your disability living allowance then you will be asked to make a claim for Personal INdependant Living allowance. We will write to you in plenty of time if you need to take any action."
I phoned up the DLA DWP and ask them the same question and they told me they did not know if I will be sent a PIP form or a DLA form yet.
Thanks all again....0
