I assumed the OP did live on one of the areas mentioned, and otherwise would be unaffected. That is why I wrote that it is 'likely', not a 'certainty'. If I had claimed that the OP did live in one of the pilot areas, that 'fact' would be debatable.
No you did not.
Now please go away and leave me alone. I understand you do not like me. But high jacking other peoples threads to try and make a point is not nice. Your comments are taking this thread off course which is of no help to the OP or anyone ready it.0 -

My son has just received his entitlement letter. Pages 1-5 are about his DLA, pages 6-8 are about PIP.
The pages about PIP begin with-
IMPORTANT INFORMATION- please read carefully
A new benefit called Personal Independence Payment will begin to replace Disability Living Allowance for disabled people aged 16 to 64 from 8 April 2013.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it.
I really hope I have miss read my letter. The reason why I thought I have to apply for PIP soon is because it says on the letter I got today
"If your existing Disability living allowance is due to end or reviewed on or after 7th Oct 2013 and you have not already received a renewal letter about your disability living allowance then you will be asked to make a claim for Personal INdependant Living allowance. We will write to you in plenty of time if you need to take any action."
18th Nov 2013 my Mobility and care for DLA ends or is up for renewal on that date by total coincidence!!! So it looks like I am in the worst category for everyone with DLA in terms of being one of the first to be kicked off DLA and have to apply for PIP.
Am I reading this right? I hope I havent!0 -

I was making positive, constructive contributions to the thread. You are welcome to challenge my knowledge, or lack thereof, and correct me where I may have misunderstood. But you posted a personal attack based on my other contributions to this forum which are irrelevant to this thread, yet you claim I dislike you and tell me to 'leave you alone'. You high-jacked the thread, not me.0 -

Those who live in those areas and are already in receipt of DLA are not affected by the pilot scheme.
It seems a lot of people are getting mixed up with this.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Unfortunately the wording that the DWP use is (probably intentionally) misleading.
If the end date of your claim is 18 November, then it is most likely (unless they change the rules again) that you will be reassessed under the existing DLA regulations.
The important date is not the date which your award ends, but the reassessment date. The reassessment period starts 20 weeks before the award is due to end. This is when the DWP should issue you with a renewal letter.
As 20 weeks before 18 November is way before 7th October, then you should still be assessed, and be asked to reapply for DLA.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

I unlike you have some knowledgeable of DLA and PIP. You have bought nothing constructive to the thread at all. You simply saw that I had posted and wished to contradict me.0 -

Was this on the first page of your letter, or on later pages after your new (April) entitlement pages.
ETA- have just read the reply by dori2o. It explains everything clearly if the above was in the later pages.0 -

Well it is 8 pages all in all.
Page 1 is saying "the purpose of this letter is to give you proof of entitlement to your benefit, information about DLA rates, Information about information you must tell us about, important information about how DLA is being replaced by PIP, there is more information at the end of this letter, please read carefully."
The it goes onto just say what I already know about my DLA, ie rates etc etc untill page 6 it then says "important information please read carefully
"A new benefit called PIP will begin to replace DLA for disabled people from 8th April 2013, you dont need to contact us about PIP now."
The it just fills the page talking about PIP and what it is etc....
Page 7
PIP is being intoroduced in a number of stages over a number of years. That means most people who receive DLA now will not be affected in the near future.
Then it says
"If your existing Disability living allowance is due to end or reviewed on or after 7th Oct 2013 and you have not already received a renewal letter about your disability living allowance then you will be asked to make a claim for Personal INdependant Living allowance. We will write to you in plenty of time if you need to take any action."
"Everyone else who receives DLA will not be affected until after 2015 or later unless you report a change."
"If after we contact you about applying for PIP you decide to apply your DLA will continue to be paid to you untill we decide about your claim for PIP, if you do not apply for PIP your DLA will end"
Basically thats its I have missed out parts about people over 65 and irrelevant info.
So I am still unsure exactly whats going on?? Does this mean I will have to apply for PIP before Nov this year? As thats when my DLA is up untill, Nov 2013?0 -

It is a standard new entitlement letter with a few extra pages about pip.
Is there an end date on the renewal letter ?
Does it say this payment is up until xxxx date ?
It would appears you will be asked to apply for PIP when your DLA runs out in Nov.
Personal Independence Payment is being introduced in stages over a number of years.
October 2013 – if an individual reports a change in how a health condition or disability affects them, they reach the end of an existing award of DLA (and haven’t already received a DLA renewal letter), or they are approaching the age of 16, then we will invite them to claim Personal Independence Payment.0 -
The only information about my DLA is at the start which says
"You are entitled to middle rate care compent untill 18th Nov 2013
Lower rate mobility untill 18th Nov 2013.
On a previous letter from last year when I was awarded DLA is says
"I have only awarded you DLA untill 18th Nov 2013 as to how much help you will need then uncertain. We will ask you if you want to claim DLA again before 18th Nov 2013"
So I am mystified as to what it all means, all I want to know is if I will have to claim PIP before Nov 2013 or will I be asked to claim DLA before Nov 2013 and then PIP sometime in the future after 2013?0
