And also if your whole journey was on one ticket and both flights were Emirates?
    Caz - fuelling difficulties mentioned.
If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

    The alleged Ringleader.........
  • The whole journey was indeed on one ticket and both flights were Emirates. As mentioned, what we were told by the captain was that the delay was caused by some technical problem with fuelling the aircraft, as we sat on board on the tarmac at Manchester.

Use the FAQs then for the template letters and the Emirates address and send your claim in
  • Well having read your replies, I am going to give it another go with Malaysian (using the advice you have given) and see what they say. If they don't budge.......any advice on seeking out a no win no fee solicitor (given the small amount of money to be claimed!!!). Thanks guys your advice and encouragement has been fantastic. I'm so used to just accepting the fact that big corporations can pretty much do as they please.

TravelCork - Malaysian are one of only seven 5 star rated airlines in the world see http://www.airlinequality.com/Airlines/AirlineA-Z.htm and they quote this in a lot of their literature. Any problems just write to Edward Plaister the CEO at Skytrax. If they get downgraded it will cost them significantly more than your claim!

Hi, i've been reading through this thread and am quite confused as to whether or not i can make a claim.

My mum and I were due to fly with United Airllines from Manchester to Newark (New York) on 14th December. I received an email the evening before i was due to fly advising the flight had been cancelled. I had no joy contacting the airline so had to still travel to the airport as planned.

Staff at the airport were really unhelpful and we were all told to call a premium rate number for further advice. 40 minutes later on my mobile (i'm dreading the bill!) we were booked onto an alternative flight the following day (27 & half hours later than our original departure time!)The alternative flight was not direct like our original one - and we had to travel to Frankfurt, wait for 2 hours then onwards to JKF Airport.

I'm confused because i'm not sure if we can claim due to the flight being cancelled due to a snow storm in the USA? And also do we claim for the amount of time we were delayed in setting off, or the amiunt of time we were delayed getting to our final destination?? Having to take indirect flights significantly increased our journey time?

One last thing does it matter that I will also be claiming through my insurance company??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
  • The weather is an extraordinary circumstance so unfortunately you won't be able to claim compensation.

You can still claim through your insurance company.
  • Need help on claiming compensation for delay with JET AIRWAYS

Hello, all, first of all thank you everyone for your such a valuable input in the forum. Just needed help whether we qualify for compensation or not?

Basically my mum and dad just had their flights with jet airways from London-Mumbai and then internal connecting flight from Mumbai all booked with jet on the same ticket. It was yesterday due to fly at 21:05 but because the flight not came in time from Mumbai due to some technical fault. Finally they managed to get the flight today at 12:00 so basically 15 hours late and because of this delay they missed connecting flight as well, so now they will have to wait in Mumbai for another 11 hours instead of just 1.5 hrs, so altogether they will be 24 hours delay in final arrival destination.

They provided hotel accommodation in Holiday Inn Heathrow and dinner and breakfast. I don't know whether they would be able to get any compensation or not when they come back from holiday??

I know they will be able to claim £30 each from the travel insurance company, but can they claim compensation as well??

    Please advice..
  • Yes, as the initial delay was not caused by an extraordinary circumstance and because they reached their final destination more than 4 hours late they'll each be entitled to 600 Euros.
