    Nice one!! :T

Least its all done now. They say most things are not as bad in practice as what you imagine they are going to be like.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Well done Catz! :T My dd is waiting for her appointment for a MRI scan ( she has hemiplegic migraine so it will be on her head) and is (as I would be) a mite worried about what it entails. Now I can warn her about the noise etc., her Dad is training as a hynotherapist so I think we may well use his skills! ;)

You get earplugs for the noise, it's quite soothing the more it goes on :)

You can here the Radiologist talking - saying when the scanning is going on & how long it will last, and you have a 'panic button' in case you need them to come and see you :)

I was thinking dramatically at the beginning when I felt a little sick, like what if I press it and start screaming gemmeee out! :rotfl:

It was ok after a few mins, with my eyes shut and I reminded myself about the constant pain which is why I had to stay in there.

I feel a right numpty - I had an operation on a frozen shoulder 2 years ago and whilst it is vastly improved the last bit has still not righted itself, so the consultant sent me for an MRI scan, which I had to wait a few weeks for an appointment.

Well, I went today and all I had to do was lie on a bed and be in a tube....and I couldn't do it - it just felt so claustrophobic, so I had to come out immediately.

I have had 3 children without pain relief, major dental work last year (root canals, extraction and dental implants) without any problem and all I had to do today was lie on a bed for 20 mins and I couldn't do it

I know exactly how you feel. I had a MRI scan back in October. I waited for about 20 minutes and then got changed into my gown. I was then told to lie on the table and I then just went into the tube. I hated it, and was in a lot of pain as I had a big prolasped disc and struggled to lie flat on my back. I wanted to press the emergency button, but it was the thought that I would have to do it all over again that I managed to get it finished and over with.

I think it would have been far better if the operators explained to all the patients what was going to happen, and let you have a look round the MRI unit prior to having a scan. It would have made me feel a lot better and reassured me.

I have got to have another one in a few weeks as I have had the operation, but have pain still in my other leg now and just want to make sure there is nothing else wrong. I think I will be ok this time.

Big fat ear-defenders where I go: I remember this last time I didn't get to adjust them, and they were pinching my earlobes which wasn't nice. :rotfl:

You can't take an Ipod in or any metal, but I read this thread and starting having a panic attack but when I got there it wasn't so bad :) Just took a few mins to settle down, kept eyes closed listened to the radiologist and the noises and it was all over quickly :)
  • somoeone said they played music and I just noticed it says on my letter to bring a cd so hopefully I will be able to concentrate on that to take my mind off all thats happening, but boy am I scared
