Ah this thread reminds me of the 'what if I won the lottery' day dream I often have!
I would make a wish list of everything I want (not just stuff, but days out, holidays), across a massive price range and then either put it towards something big, or split it across something smaller and saving for something bigger (like new car etc).Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0

I think your PIL would want you to enjoy the money..rather than saving it..holiday!The opposite of what you know...is also true0

I read it as a bit of fun question.
My answer was to put towards my daughters wedding fund, I doubt the OP would consider this course of action!
I did too, however, i was thinking perhaps the op would prefer it that when someone started a thread, that it was the law to go with the most popular decision, so for example - buy a year's worth of loo roll (thanks for that one guys).
Imagine how that would change the dynamics of the forum. Cheating partners would go out the window:
 Help my partner's cheating
 Dump him
 Done it
 End of thread
 InterestingMSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0

I would change it all into fivers, tip them on the bed and have a good wallow with a glass of champagne. Then gather them all back up and pay my overdraft off.
At least I'd have a good memory to keep then... And imagine how you'd feel at the bank:D
Hope you have a good time with your windfall money!0

            1. Pay £400 off the credit card.
 2. Put £500 into an ISA. The interest would buy you about 10 Cream Eggs per month (if bought in bulk...)
 3. Spent the remaining £100 on a family day out - take your 3 year old to Peppa Pig World!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0

Personally if it were me getting gift I would spend 100 on a great night out and then save the rest for my holiday to NYC this year:A VK :A0

I would take my girlfriend down to London for a week or so of real girly shopping and excess, Yes it's a waste, but I doubt we could go through the whole lot in a week, ahaha.0

Im with team boring - pay off CC/ save + pay off CC when interest kicks in. I might spend a little on a meal/day out but the way I think is it may be boring now but if its helping you save money it'll get you more treats in the long run!0

1/3 past (debt) 1/3 present (indulgent treat) 1/3 future (saving)0
