What would you do with an unexpected gift of £1,000?

If i were you, i'd save it, although lifetime family membership of the NT is a tempting idea.
If i were me, i'd spend it on essential car repairs.Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.

I haven't read the replies, but I would suggest saving it putting it in a separate account until you have paid off your debts and saved a little more, then spend it on something for yourselves.
That way you still get to enjoy it but you are safe in the knowledge you have some savings behind you0 -
I would buy £1000 worth of creme eggs

Even better, wait until they drop to 10p per egg in Sainbury's after Easter has gone and THEN buy £1,000 worth
I agree with others OP, put it into savings as you never know when you'll need it.0 -
I would probably save the lot. I would be really annoyed if I'd spent it then get an unexpected bill meaning I would have to put money on an expensive credit card. Boring I know. Sorry.I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.0

Save it! Or "spend" half on some shares and/or an investment fund, plus a few premium bonds (for the fun factor).0

Spend a bit save a bit - boring but true!
Or buy something that every time I see it reminds me of them, a picture or a gadget or something else that would be well used or admired.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Pay off half of my overdraft. Nothing fun but it would be the sensible thing to do.
If i didnt have the OD i'd save half and use the rest for a deposit on a new flat rental come july. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Well I'd be sensible with most of it (in my case home improvements - I'm hoping to have the house painted as I never seem to get round to it and a garden tidy up would be a good idea tooo) but I'd also buy a painting, as I collect. I buy stuff I love rather than as an investment though, as art is for looking at.
What sort of art do you like? I treated myself to membership of the Tate Galleries and I love visiting the exhibitions every so often.somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -
I'd spend £500 on a weekend away, get one of the Pontins deals or something and save £500 for a rainy day
