Do you love your job??

Do you love your job? By this, I mean do you actually look forward to going into work on a Monday?

If so, it would be interesting to know what you love about it and what you do.

The only reason I ask is because I met a friend yesterday who I have not seen in a while. We were chatting about work etc when he told me that he loves his job and actually looks forward to it after the weekend

I was quite shocked to be honest. I have always worked full time since school (around 10 yrs) and have done many things but I have never loved any of it. I always feel I have so many better things I could be getting on with:D

I actually felt quite jealous of him, jealous that he looks forward to it! I wish I did but I simply dont. For me it simply a means to pay my mortgage and nothing else. Maybe I am in the wrong job but I have done so many things in my (short) working life I am struggling with anything realistic that I could do that I love at the same time.

Is it just me that hates the daily 9-5 or do some people actually love it? Please tell :)

I have done call centre work, hairdressing, makeup artist, worked for a local radio station, shop work, admin work all in 10 years....failure!

  • I like and enjoy my current job but wouldn't say I love it. I did love a previous job though and really did look forward to Monday mornings and going in to work (and I even worked on Saturdays and Sundays quite often). I had a great team around me who I respected as colleagues and genuinely liked as people. We had supportive and competent managers, we all cared about the work and were committed to doing a good job and really felt that we made a difference in people's lives - the work was worth doing and that felt brilliant. The job was as a specialist enforcement officer for trading standards on a team that dealt with rogue traders, fraudsters, counterfeiters and underage sales.

I was really sad to leave and I still miss the team there.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

I have to say I do enjoy my job, I like going into work. I essentially just "play" with computers all day, which I'd probably be doing anyway so I might as well get paid for it.

Although I do reckon that for most people a job is just a means to an end.

OP, perhaps your friend just lacks the imagination to see what else he could be doing if he wasn't at work? Simple things please simple minds ;)

I enjoy my job. I wouldn't say I 'love' it, I can think of many things I'd rather do (but they don't pay as well) or even how much I'd rather be at home with our little boy. But if I have to work, it's not a bad job. (HR Administrator)

Nope it's a means to an ends. If I could retire now I would lol.

I have had various jobs (not careers) and haven't loved any of them. Maybe I'm just a lazy moo lol.

I often enjoy my work, and other times I get challenged by it and I think it's more interesting dealing with that than playing a game or something.

It's quarter past 9 in the evening and I am doing some background work to help me better understand something I'm working on.

    I love my job :D

I think its got something to do with my previous job working in banking and absolutly hating it with a passion.
It really makes me appreciate my current job and I love the people there. Makes it really easy to go in on a Monday morning and enjoy each day.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I love it, I certainly enjoy it though. It taxes my brain which can only be a good thing. I couldn't not work. I need to be doing something. I never seem to be able to switch off.
  • Love it - was my hobby and once I've finished the contract will be setting myself up to do it full time self employed. Business plan already written, premises already sorted and first contracts already secured. Bring it on!
