Hi I parked in Iceland car park in Gravesend, I've done this every week for over 5 years, normally on Tuesdays, I purchased a ticket at 12.56, I did my weekly shop, queued (maybe 20 mins) paid for my shopping carried my 6 bags back to my car...Just at this point a sticker was placed on my door window..I told the man he had made a mistake & that I had a ticket... He said yes but it had expired!!! I've only been an hour!! No he said an hour & ten minutes!!!..I told him that was preposterous ! He laughed & said read the terms! I'm in my 60's I often take longer (especially around the holidays because of the queues) I phoned Iceland & explained the situation, although sympathetic I didn't hear back from them... I haven't shopped there since!.. I have kept my display ticket but ignored the parking ticket.. Today I received a letter from SMART PARKING asking me for £90 !!!
What action should I take?0 -

As for not so smart. Ignore is perfectly safe but you may feel keen to 'appeal'. Do this by telling them you reject their demand for money as their documentation/signage is non compliant, and, if they don't like it, to send you the POPLA code.0 -

1. START YOUR OWN THREAD please!
2. DRAFT AN 'APPEAL' = MORE LIKE 'COMPLAINT' FOR SMART SAYING THEY ARE BREAKING THE EQUALITY ACT 2010 (AGEISM, AND FAILURE TO MAKE REASONABLE ADJUSTMENTS) AND THAT ICELAND ARE IMPLICATED TOO.
3. COPY IN THE HEAD OFFICE OF ICELAND TO THAT COMPLAINT. IN WRITING TO THE TOP MAN/WOMAN, THE CEO.
3. GET HELP AGAIN ON YOUR NEW THREAD WHEN AT POPLA STAGE, DO NOT SEND THE SAME CHALLENGE THEN AS IT NEEDS SOME WORK.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for all the advice given by everyone - got a "smart parking" fine in a "private" (back yard parking behind flats off the main road) in edinburgh today - going to ignore it as there is no way of anyone having a "permit" to park there.
Cant stand the scammers and intimidation tactics - hope their so called head office in perth burns down in a wildfire!!
keep fighting0 -

Always ignore any fake PCN if in Scotland or NI as there's no appeal and these are only a scam anyway. It's just a case of ignoring their junk mail and there's a preview of all the letters in the sticky thread 'PPC letter chains' (on that sticky, the OLD pre-October link has the preview pics).PRIVATE 'PCN'? Pleeeeease, don't dig up old threads, have a read of my signature (immediately below this post) - it will provide immediate guidance to you on what to do next.
Also, in your new thread, can you confirm you have a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010 which puts an onus on the store/PPC to provide an adjustment for you?

Also, when you start your own thread, please confirm if this happened in Scotland and NI or England and Wales. This is because the advice/procedure varies significantly between the two - and this thread deals wiith Scotland.0 -
