    This is now harassment IMO.

Inform the police and let them (and buyer) know that if he shows up your door again the police will be called.

If he is unhappy with the car he can go through the small claims court. There will be no refund without a successful small claims ruling. No further communications will be entered into. Any further messages or visits to your home will be treated as harassment and reported to the police.

Make sure you save all messages and keep a diary of all further incidents. Report all of them to the police promptly.

    +1

And ss i said previously, the O/P needs to be talking to the police in the context of HARASSMENT not in terms of 'this person wants their money back'.

I would STILL be trying to divert him to written communication via a solicitor.

DEFINITELY make him aware that you consider this harassment and you have informed the police, and should he turn up again you will be calling the police.

    Simple one word text "LOL".

Maybe not the best idea in the world?

I have still been ignoring their calls and messages ever since the first time he called and the message he sent today left me a little confused.

"I am waiting outside 'your address' and would like tower up and discuss how you are going to return 'the new driver's' money. Would you please return my text and we can sort this out."

As my gf was home she mentioned that he knocked twice then went away and then came back a few minutes later (possibly after sending the text) and started hammering on the door. Next time he does that police will be getting a call as my gf was feeling threatened and was glad the doors were locked.

No not the NEXT time he does it, report this instance. Don't sit back and wait for your girlfriend to be home alone when this guy breaks down your door! You've spoken to them once, you have text messages as evidence, go to the Police today and make sure they take you seriously. It doesn't seem like he's just going to go away and let his poor little girl get ripped off (is opinion not mine!)

Totally agree. Good idea to GO to the police rather than ring too.
  • althamon, take the advice heeded here and go to the police station to report this. Don't confuse the harassment with the car purchase because you will be fobbed off with "it's a civil matter". The harassment is a totally standalone crime.

Whatever you do, do not get involved in any discussion with the man other than to tell him you have informed the police.
