Are they intended to oak the wine? Beer making homebrew looks fascinating - all kinds of clever people adding additional hops, fruit and spices during a secondary fermentation to add flavours
I think my 'larder' is probably on a similar scale to yours, except ours is full of old paperbacks and chemicals0 -

Yep noodles for lunches. Ponyplops was given polos for Christmas by mad aunties but she isnt allowed them.edinburgher wrote: »Are they intended to oak the wine? They are to oak the wine. I cant stand oaky whites though. Half a sachet worked well with the 30 bottles of red.
What's with the chemicals? My pantry is full of those too *annoying chemist comment *0 -

Hi again
Thank you for posting on my threadI am going to take the plunge and start making my own wine :j I have, however, just been on the website and almost spent a fortune before emtying my basket  I am happy to buy whats needed as i know some things will get alot of re-use so a good and necessary investment but i think i just was buying everything as i didn't know what i needed
I have never made wine before and have no 'kit' for this whatsoever. If you could let me know what items are essential and the bits i could add later that'd be greatAlso where would you recommend i buy bottles from ?
Sorry for all the questions and hope its not too much troubleI know i'll save money over time but will have the initial outlay for equipment - i am very excited to be able to make consistent savings on our outgoings with this :j:j:j thank you so much for the recommendation
i am hoping to catch up with your diary tooCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000 -
Hello Dedicated. I do just fine with a large 5 gallon fermenter, a bung with an air lock, a siphon with a tap, and some sterilizing tablets/powder. Bottles can be bought cheaply from winemaking shops or you could 1. Beg the empties from friends or 2. Rack off into 2l plastic bottles. If you qre going to bottle properly then a decent corker and some corks are essential.
Thats it. X
Oh...and a kit. I recommend beaverdale kits as almost idiotproof but i do not recommend the website of that name to purchase them!0 -
Thanks - i just realised i may be able to buy cheaper elsewhere and the kit should have all the bits in i need :T Thank youCC1:T £[STRIKE]2531[/STRIKE] £1460MORTGAGE OVERPAYMENTS: £10575.20 Target £12,100MF Date: [STRIKE]August 2042[/STRIKE] May 2035Declutter 1000 things by Xmas 2015! 53/10000

I sure did - they have a sale on.
Their stuff is as good as anywhere else and is a fair bit cheaper than dedicated homebrew websites. You can also get 4.04% cashback from TCB.
Although I would say that this is the cheapest way to get a 25l food safe bucket - link0 -
Ed for wine I would want the carbon dioxide to escape to help it to clear.
Yesterday was NSD # 4. Found some stamps in my purse. Yay!0
