Jumping in, but I would def recommend a self hosted blog right from the beginning and Wordpress in my opinion is best as even self hosted on Blogger they can still remove your blog without warning whereas Wordpress it's yours.

If you need any help just shout, have been writing blogs for a few years now.

My blog is set up for monetisation, just not keeping me in the style I want it to......yet.....:rotfl:
