Hi al, i'm afraid I still can't see or post any comments, I can see it says - comments , newgirly,on - but that's all. Congrats on your new henry, they are the best!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Re Ed's blog and yours - is it really necessary to hide your identity? Mr mmm doesn't really hide his. And tbh, I know enough about Al to track her down if I wanted to... As long as you are not being insulting to anyone and it doesn't conflict with work, do you need to be anonymous? I think it adds to the interest if you know who the people are. One of my favourites, frugal living in Suffolk, is very open about identity.
Just a thought,

Oh bum but thanks for trying Newgirly.
Squirrel you probably know enough about me to get me sacked, sectioned or both!0 -

He's already made it to FI, Ermine is retired (and so on, spot a pattern)?0 -

- I would love a thought shower, it sounds refreshing! It will need to be fairly high level
- Definitely finance related, was thinking something along the lines of an everyman FI blog from someone people might actually relate to 'normal job, normal family, trying to do something extraordinary' sort of thing? Slightly sick of reading about financial supermen who either earn ££££££, don't have kids, or survive on a diet of lentils and philosophy :rotfl:
- The blog would be discrete from my MSE life. You'll note that I avoid saying 'persona'. I have always been very (too?) honest in my time here and I need a firewall to protect my identity
- The blog might also relate to a career change at some point, so I would need the clean break for future professional reasons
- The blog would be entirely transparent, considering publishing things like NW/asset allocations etc. Again, I need to be very secret to be very open!
- I find that cross-posting your internet personae only works for a certain type of blog that I'll categorise as 'frugal/heartfelt/cutesy'. If SF will excuse me labelling her, her blog is a perfect example. Blog posts serve as a formal roundup of a journal as a sort of 'what blogger x did next'. There is value in linking the big picture posts to the everyday, as these bloggers are trying to capture the essence of a way of life
- I was planning for a more goal orientated blog. Not to say that SF isn't goal orientated (far from it), but the audience for her blog will be far more interested in the detail than the audience that I envisage for my embryonic embryonic blog. I have come to realise that I cannot monetise stories about polishing my shoes. In fact, that's a lie, I could affiliate link the hell out of my recent shoe purchases
Argh, waffling.
*Edit: Once more - not denigrating any blogs - just highlighting certain stylistic features!
I've wondered in the past about a blog surrounding finance with the purpose of overpaying the mortgage and the journey it takes, but not sure I have time for another blog :rotfl:0 -
Its turning out to be a full time job!!0

They do need work, don't they! On the other hand, when you write about something you like and enjoy, it doesn't *feel* like work. I tried a "sensible" ecological idea a few years ago, and it really, really, didn't work, because even though I'm green, the niche I chose was sensible rather than my own passion.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I don't mind...yet!
I did spend a bit on a birthday card and some mints. Nothing too drastic. Diet has not gone well this week and/because I am exhausted.
A crazy weekend coming up too.0 -
I have always found it strange that it is harder to diet when you are busy, as logically you wouldn't have time to think about eating. Yet I find that I end up eating junk as fuel to keep me going when actually I should be sleeping! Sorry the diet isn't going well, but do enjoy the weekend,
