KC what was your alcohol related revelation?0
-
Uh, it felt very bad at the time - I was in a cafe one Sunday morning on my own, just parted from the people I'd been drinking with on the Saturday night, and I couldn't get the cup of coffee to my mouth, I was shaking so badly. It felt very like the DTs, without the hallucinations, tho as I look back now on my weird low blood pressure and very reactive blood sugar levels, it *may* simply have been me running on empty. It felt quite dangerous - and even then I knew I misused alcohol, so I knocked it on the head for a while - worked harder at the job, went out and found a local relationship, that sort of thing.
Where are you with it all? What made you decide to go alcohol free?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh well...the cost, the being hungover but not admitting it, and the realisation that we were not being very good at being moderate. The trigger was DH looking more and more ill.
So I have a simple and you would think easy target, a habit to change...
No meals between meals...or snacking as I think normal folk call it.
I make an exception for fruit at school break time.
I will report in!0 -

Simple isn't the same as easy! But its a good definable goal, that, should be good.
Not being good at being moderate - I *so* recognise that! I don't struggle with alcohol any more, I truly don't, there's a bit thats bought on holiday that I've never opened, that sort of thing. The struggle nowadays is chocolate - I simply don't have it in the housesimple, definable, doable.
Once you're starting to feel ill, alcohol is really, really bad news.... off to bed now anyway, hope your DH is starting to feel a little bit better.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Have a good day Al, and lots of fruit xx
I'm going for grain free and sugar free today. If I can get past the 4-7pm window then I'm ok!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -

apple you are hardcore!0 -
Grain free is *really* hardcore, I'm sure I'd benefit too ... I guess tatties are your friend in those situations.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I'm half way there with the grains, being coeliac, and I know how much the 'permissible' grains make me bloat. Yep, tatties are good, but not if I go really hardcore and do the primal thingy. However, am forced hardcore as no tatties left in the house...
So far, so good... but still a loooooong way til bedtime...NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I always feel much better when I haven't had a drink for a bit. I don't want to give it up as it is part of my social life, and don't see it as a problem because I rarely drink Sunday to Thursday. But cheese, now... I just can't leave it alone. If I know it is in the fridge I can hear it squeaking. And it is probably worse for me than alcohol is.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0
