Urgh - internal applicants. I have a parental who works in teaching, I believe it took them something like 10 interviews before they got a promoted post due to this unfortunate trend. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with nepotism for good candidates, but why put everyone else through it when it often appears to be a done deal?

Income replacement suggestion - !!!!!! eco lodges :D

I think I might struggle for planning for that.

It was actually an NQT that got the job. Half my salary and easy to get rid of if they don't work out.

Call them cabins instead of lodges and you should be fine ;) Impermanence being the idea?

    Does that really work?

I am so tempted to just build a house on our field and sod planning, since there is a family living in a log cabin on the field opposite who have been there six years.

Items 1-4 are done. Gingerbread ghosts might be a better name for them.
  • Sounds like a lovely day. You could investigate putting up some of these trendy 'tiny houses'. A lot of these are on wheels to get around planning. Lots on Google. As a minimalist I would love one.

I thought I was a minimalist, but now I just feel deluded. Tiny houses look like great fun, but they're completely impractical for more than two tidy people. I saw an episode of Tiny House Nation and the child was expected to sleep in a cupboard that made Harry Potter look spoiled by the Dursleys ;)
