  • Hello All and welcome justapensioner to the board.

Sorry to hear Mossop that you can't get access to your old accounts. My bank did that with me with my main account but left the staff one I don't use so who knows what logic these banks have.

I got a letter today from SC about sorting out a review which I thought was kind of strange as I have only made one payment so far. However I was going to ring them up next month as I got small pay rise - the first time in 4 years - and I was going to go over to 12 months for the council tax, I just want to get all my final figures together first so I don't keep changing it. They will have to wait!

Hope all is well with everyone and life on DMP is not too much of a struggle at the moment.

Think they do an early review to make sure the budget set is realistic. Sure it will be fine.

If they have defaulted you and passed it to collections, this routinely happens. So it could be a good thing :)

Ooo that does give me hope although i have heard nothing from them even acknowledge our financial difficulty or the dmp, would that still be the case?

    Evening all,

So plucked up the courage to ring HSBC. It seems they have accepted my payment plan on the a over draft but still are waiting for an offer on the Managed loan which is our biggest debt at £17000:eek:
The guy was fine on the phone but pointed out despite accepting this the process of recovery would continue to eventually default and go to their collections department
I then rang SC who said they often don't hear back from companies and it doesn't really matter because they continue to make payments. I'm going to try and chill out a bit about the whole thing and just let everything take its course. I'm not getting any phone calls and we are surviving on the budget so other than fighting for interest to be frozen just going to work towards upping our SC payment and fingers crossed should be able to up our payment by £100 in June.
Started Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.

3-1 here so spot on with the 75%

I sound like a cracked record about the FOS but they really do fight our corner. So if you have a creditor still charging you interest, make a complaint then give the FOS a go.

If they are going to pass it to collections and default you, the sooner the better. I was amazed when I asked Lloyds TSB to default me and they agreed, so a new piece of TTFTM advice is:

If you want a default, try asking for one :D

Hi all, we are still here, plodding along slowly. We seem to be getting less post than we ever did when we were actually paying all our debts, don't know what's going on there! By checking all our online accounts, it seems that most creditors are freezing interest and have accepted the DMP. Barclaycard are being very condescending, they have said they want to hear from SC by the end of the month, "otherwise we will assume that you are no longer in financial difficulty, and will reinstate all interest and charges". I can think of many words to describe them, and I'm pretty sure none of them would get through the swear filter  Trouble is, almost half of our debt is with them... The silly thing is, SC have already written to them ages ago, I think they must have some kind of backlog.

The only thing I'm slightly concerned about is that everyone who has replied has stated that the payment plan must start at the end of this month. They have all already been told the start date is next month, and that they will receive token payments until then, so I am just going to sit it out. I'm thinking that if we 'miss' our first payment (in their eyes), it will probably only push them into defaulting us quicker anyway, which would be a good thing. Watch this space!

Hope everyone else is doing okay :) The last few weeks have been a breath of fresh air, and spending money feels totally different when it's your own! Everything is considered much more carefully, and it's a lovely feeling to have money in the bank at the end of the month. So glad we made this decision, I just wish we'd done it sooner!

Hi julie well done in braving the hsbc phone call, ive taken the same attitude to it, i wanted everyone to agree overnight but i think its gonna take a while, im gonna now until creditors have recieved their funds from SC on 25th, then start writing again to those still charging interest threatening FOS and requesting defaults ( if u dont ask u dont get nothing to lose)
That would be great to increase ur dmp so early by £100! Keep it manageable tho, from reading previous posts i gather u are in this for the long haul like me!
