Thanks HH. I will have to make the most of the freezer again and get the slow cooker out, so hopefully we should be fine for food. The heating is a b****r because we have oil central heating and the oil is so expensive at the moment.GUO its always sods law that things happen at once, but keep plodding u can do it!

Wow, we go away for a few weeks and there is a new thread !!..
Were still plodding on, Mr Spicy's car snapped both coil springs while he was away, leaving him and the car stuck at the airport, not an expensive job, until you add the cost of the recovery and the garage work, so his "reliable shed" is now costing us £300
His did the brakes a few weeks earlier, that cost £200 but he did the work himself, so we were hoping that the car would last a good few years yet.
Were now 61% debt free Woopeee !!!!!!!!
Just booked a family holiday too, first one in 4 years, as we had some money left to us, and we all need a break.
Anyway, onwards and upwards ..LBM - Oct - 08 DMP Started - Feb -09

Hi all just had a little breakthrough with hsbc, they have accepted dmp and frozen interest for 12 months on overdrafts, very helpful man told me at moment CC interest is stopped but no record of a time limit, so he advised to check statements and if interest starts to be charged then to get in touch for it to be refunded and if no joy to go to FOS! Was surprised he actually advised this (although it was already my plan to do so)
Huge result for me tho considering up til now hadnt even acknowledged dmp! Happy bunny today!LBM Dec 2012 total debt 33,889 :eek:dmp started March 2013 DFD Dec 2024

Hi all,
Mossop fabulous news, gives me hope that we will get there with them.
I've had a letter from SC saying Eon dont accept the payment plan, but not to worry that they will continue to make the payment and it will eventually probably go to their collections department who they will make the same offer to. I wouldn't mind it's a tiny amount compared to our other creditors, less than £300. The silly thing is I cold pay it off out of our emergency fund but then we wouldn't have one! I'm determined not to do this and keep on with the plan.
Although its very tempting just to be done with them.
Going to try and claw some money back on the food budget this week. Really only need fresh stuff and have a £5.00 voucher off a £40 spend at Aldi. Going to go with a very detailed list and try and just spend over the amount needed then get the £5 off. We work on £80 per week for food so if I can half it this week that would be great.
Hope everyone's doing well. I found it really heartening reading the thread yesterday seeing people who are coming to the end, it really keeps me motivated:DStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Hi All,
Mossop that's fantastic news. It must be such a relief. They are still ignoring us and have in-fact just sent a new statement so fingers crossed we might eventually hear something from them.
I have heard from Next who have a agreed to the plan. All other store cards/catalogues seem to be ignoring everything.
Feeling a bit low today, seems to a battle to get everyone to recognise the DMP.
Just sent two of the kids off on their school trip (which nearly crippled us at £175 each) But the school paid for them last year as we couldn't afford it then either, still at least it's paid and I have added it to my budget so next year the money should be there to pay for it.
I wish I was 3 months down the line and everything was a bit more settled. Sorry for moaning i'm sure tomorrow will be different£27461.40 in Debt, Start DMP on 1/03/13. Debt free June 2016_party_

Hi fbg
Keep your chin up. I've found it's definitely a roller coaster ride, some days feeling really positive and others down in the dumps. But compared to being absolutely worried to death every day it's so much better now. There are definitely more positives for me on the DMP.
I feel better now I'm less focused on creditors accepting, they either do or they don't. They can't have what you haven't got.
Hope you feel better JulieStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Hi :-)
New here, but been spending a few days reading through a few pages of this tread - Feeling quite a bit better knowing I am not alone...
Myself and OH have just had our conformation of our DMP with SC, and for the first time in years, I think I see a faint glow at the end of the tunnel !!
My question is this:
How to "Live" on a DMP when you total monthly income is spread across the month ??
On paper, it looks simple - Lump sum Income, with figures for how much I can / do spend on each item / Total Outgoings right??
However, in reality, for us it goes like this: OH wages, last Day of month...
Tax Credits, Every Tuesday
Child Benefit - Every 4 weeks
Maybe I'm tired, it's been a long day so far, with phone calls and letters, but I'm getting myself in a bit of a pickle trying to work out, who gets paid or what I can spend on shopping etc on what day...
I was thinking about getting my Tax Credits changed to 4 weekly, so its a better "lump Sum" but then again I am used to having the £51 each Tuesday
I probably haven't made much sense here, I know what I mean to say in my head, putting it into written form is not easy !!!
Thanks xx0 -

Hi lola bug, welcome and ur not alone, my OH is paid weekly and since his money is the majority of our income its been tricky to work out, this is where my spreadsheets work for me, i have to do spreadsheets monthly, we have 2 current accounts, one for DDs and another for spends, which i only take cash from to spend i never use my debit card so i know what ive got each week, it is workable, maybe a new way of thinking but it can be done and has to be for us if our dmp is going to wirk for us long term.
Good luckLBM Dec 2012 total debt 33,889 :eek:dmp started March 2013 DFD Dec 2024
