Hi Alice
Yes default stays on file for 6 years from when it was planted there. However, I recently saw some subprime applications for remortgage online where it asked if there defaults within the last two years which indicates there may be an inbetween way and whilst they will still acknowledge the default you may get offered a halfway interest rate if that makes sense.

Yes this makes sense to me and is appearing to be the positive thing.0 -

Also decent creditcards used to be available when defaults were satisified and 3 yrs old. Not sure how this works now.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -

Hoover bags you are very welcome to but you'd have to grab a Sebo.
Not sure I could manage dishcloth, it could stuff up my DFD statistics!
Got my NRAM letter today, seems it may be a few extra pounds to what I was told on Friday so fingers crossed!

I have now started on a DMP with Step Change and for the first time in ages I feel I can breathe again. My first payment goes out on 1 April 2013.
To be honest my problems started shortly after I retired, although I managed to get a part time job (a couple of afternoons) I eventually had to give it up as I have an elderly mother to look after. I am now classed as a full time carer and because I am drawing a pension I cannot claim a thing financially. Oh I can claim Pension Credit the grand total of £8.47 per week which is reduced in April to £8.08. Nice to know you are appreciated.
I have been reading these threads for some time now and to know that I am not alone with my problem helps, I expect the next few weeks to be a little scary but from reading how others have handled situations is a great help.0 -

Hello and a very warm welcome to you
The rule system for carers stinks doesn't it. Well you are our unsung hero/heroine for sure.
Great you are moving forward. You will be no ones April Fool. Please shout up if you have any queries or just want to ponder on life generally.
