Sorry if this is in the wrong place but i can see you have a basic barclays account and have debts with them. We have also done this under recommendation from Stepchange. May i ask you if they have ever taken money from your new account to pay your other debts. Thanks as stressing they will empty the basic account with my wages in.
Hi,
I had my first salary payment into the new account on 27/11 and haven't had any problems so far, fingers crossed!
Good luck with your DMP0 -

If telephone communication persists, you can write again and state you will only accept future contact in writing and will consider any further phone calls to be harassment, which will be reported to the FOS.
Thanks TTFTM. I will do that. I had written to them at the start of the DMP but obviously they need telling again!!. Unfortunately most of our debt is through them! So much for my loyalty for over 25 years!! A lesson learned the hard way.:oMake £10 a day Jan £0/£3100 -
Little update from me, as now into the second month and first payment landed and processed..
2 statements in ... The good.. Barclaycard no charges or interest..
The Bad ..Creation 0.72% interest, which I had already calculated would reduce my balance by a whole £4 a month.. grrr.. but have written letter and had standard we are investigating response back so will have to wait and see..
All the others I'm waiting for statements from, will keep you posted....Christmas 2020 £109

Great stuff Equilibrium.
Any help or advice you need, just yell, there is always someone here who is willing and able to helpThanks TTFTM. I will do that. Sadly Samjangi, you will find that all loyalty goes out of the window quickly in a DMP. Banks that were happy to write with unrequested credit increases every few months and who have received thousands of pounds in interest from your custom over the years will quickly abandon you.
Keep on top of it and if necessary make a complaint. If you need any help with template letters etc, please ask.Little update from me, as now into the second month and first payment landed and processed..

Puzzcat, that is actually very good news re Barclaycard as they are not reknowned for their co-operation in interest freezing.
Creation don't seem particularly helpful so keep an eye on this and if you don't get the response you want, get the FOS involved.

Hi everyone
I started a dmp with step change in June and it has been amazing. I pay £1410 a month on the 10th of the month, apart from in August when I had to reduce it to cover a home emergency cost. Stepchange and my creditors were amazing about it and everything went back to normal the next month.
I'm general I find my budget affordable however this month I'm struggling as I didn't have much put away for Christmas and I have a 6 year old.
I'm due to pay stepchange on Tuesday and after that I will be short untill payday and I'm worrying as my son has trips etc and Christmas lunches.
Has anyone ever paid late to stepchange or paid less then made it up later in the month? I will get an extra £200 Christmas bonus on 17th December so could afford to pay it then.
Any suggestions or experiences with this? I'm worried they will cancel my dmp if I ask to reduce again.0 -
I just wanted to congratulate everyone who has had a success this week, I'm all for even the small things to be celebrated.Time_to_face_the_music wrote: »Puzzcat, that is actually very good news re Barclaycard as they are not reknowned for their co-operation in interest freezing.
I have to say in all my financial woes Barclaycard were the best to deal with, not only were they the only ones to acknowledge first my DMP and then my IVA but they also stopped interest straight away. It is just a shame they cannot be consistent and treat everyone the same.
Wisdom comes from experience. Experience is often a result of lack of wisdom.0 -

Hi
Payments can be made on the 1st or the 10th I think. Personally I'd do a reduced payment this month as it's your first year you haven't been able to build up a reserve and have a 6 year old to consider. Give SC a call and ask what your options are. It's your money. You may get some hassle but it will sort itself out. If you do reduce it make sure you write to the creditors too, don't just rely on SC.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
