Congrats to you both and I hope you have a great day and even better life together !.supersavershal wrote: »Well I am 3 months in to my DMP. I thought we were doing OK, we had managed to save a little emergency fund then everything seemed to fall down around us. When we had bad weather last month our guttering fell down, it had to be replaced at a cost of £300 so that cleared us out.
Wev had one lot of road tax due last month and one lot this month as well as an MOT this week, im so praying it passes.
Im sure next year we will have saved for these things and other emergencies.
Im still really glad we have started the DMP as most of these things would normally have been put on credit, it really feels good to pay for them with real money even if it leaves us potless, It feels like we are in control for the first time in many years.
Its been so good to hear peoples sucess stories on here, they inspire me.
Some good news - we are getting married in a week and a half! Its very very low key, my dress and kids outfits are via ebay. I am making and decorating the cake myself and the party is at parents house in garden in marqui - it was allready arranged in honour of a significant birthday I have looming at the end of the month!
My best friend is doing me a spray tan and my nails.
Our biggest expense was the money we paid for the ceremony at the town hall. Its really important to me that we get married, my friend died suddenly last year, her affairs were left in a mess, I want some security for our family. And Im looking at it as cementing our future and the start of the rest of our lives and becoming secure and debt free.0 -

Congrats supersavershal on the upcoming nuptials, I hope you have a wonderful day. One more thing you can do for your family's future security is something that a lot of us don't like to think about, and that is making a will. That way you can be sure that everything goes to where you want it to be.
Hope the sun shines for you on the day:)DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Going to join this thread as I have had my LBM and today requested my DMP pack from Step Change and opened a new basic bank account. They estimate I'll be debt free in just under 5 years.First DMP payment 10/06/13

I have a question about the DMP, if anyone could help please? On the debt remedy questionnaire I did with Step Change, I included all of my outgoings, as it asks. Does the DMP have to include everything? I am at a point where I have not defaulted on any of my priority debts, and only a couple of my non-priority (there are a few!) Does the DMP include the likes of house insurance/car insurance/pet insurance/mobile phone etc? These types of commitments I am managing, it's my credit cards/loans/catalogues/payday loans that are causing the problem.
Can I choose what to include in the DMP? Or is it better just to include absolutely everything?
Thanks in advance!First DMP payment 10/06/13

Welcome Foolish.
DMPs aren't regulated. The gentleman's agreement is that you should include everything to make sure all creditors are treated the same. They don't necessarily return the favour but that's what you are meant to do! SC standing view is that they say they will cancel the DMP if you are seen to be treating them differently.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for that. With the likes of insurances that need to be renewed each year, how does that work if you are on a DMP?First DMP payment 10/06/13

Hi Foolish and welcome :hello:
Well done on getting started on your debt free journey :T
StepChange need to know about all of your outgoings so they can work out how much you have available to pay towards your debts. If you are not behind with your payments towards insurance, mobile etc, these just go into your monthly spend, together with food, rent/mortgage, gas/electric, transport costs.
All of your debts are then paid from what is left over.
Hope this makes sense but if you have any more questions, there is generally someone here you can helpLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin
