Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Dear All
Approx 5 and a half years ago we owed approx 90k + and were staring bankruptcy in the face. We started a DMP with Payplan and after a long haul now are down to our last 4 payments.
we had 15 creditors and they all accepted plan, however 2 have added significant interest(:().
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone for keeping me sane over the past 5 years and to Payplan who have been amazing.
it has been a struggle at times and i cant believe we have just about reached the end of that long tunnel.
    DMP has been life changing.
good luck to all of you starting out it does get easier:)

  • Just starting my Debt management plan and have informed all my creditors. Start paying Step Plan from the 1st June. Have already heard from Barclay Card to say they are freezing my account- not sure whether that means the interest too. Nationwide seem to be writing/phoning me each day -- hopefully that will settle down-- they are my creditors x4 and are refusing reduced payments from SP on my gold card.

Anyway reading the posts here are quite reassuring-- looking forwards to seeing my debts start to go down.

Welcome to the family. Good luck for a smooth start up.

You are right there HH. We had a letter from Fortis saying that that our debt had been passed to them, when I rang though they have absolutely no record of me, my debts or anything else!! They suggested waiting until another letter turns up and then ringing them. How great would it be if they had "lost" my debt!!! You can always dream..

We are going to spend the day trying to find a cheap cooker now that ours has decided to go on the blink! Typical:mad:

We seemed to be doing quite well on the DMP, things had settled down and we were living pretty well on our budget. NatWest have stirred things up this month though by closing our bank accounts (which we haven't used since June 2012), they have written to everyone who we ever had a DD with which has brought us an avalanche of post even though we set up a new account and have been using this for nearly 12 months. Still I guess this is our penance for going on a DMP!
    Debts as of June 2012 - £68,986.35
    Now £27,470.20 :T
    57% of debts cleared:beer:

Well done ALD, it does show you that even with significant debts that it can be done. We still owe over £60k which is a huge amount to us. My first house cost me £30k so this kind of puts it in perspective!
