anyone know if i can still operate this account if i close my classic plus current account (transferring to Halifax!)?
do i need to keep the current account open (even if it's at zero balance)?
obviously i'll be funding the £250 monthly credit from elsewhere (Halifax!)0 -
Carpy, you need to keep your current account with LLoyds to run your monthly saver. I keep a £1 on it and a few SO.
That's why I am in similar position as you. I have applied for halifax HICA and just would like to transfer my 2 SO but would leave the current account open.0 -
I was thinking of doing the same thing with my Lloyds Classic Plus/Monthly Saver account, only I was thinking of Abbey's current account offering 8% and giving you the option to open a monthly saver account offering 10%. I am wondering about two things:
a) why are people here moving to Halifax HICA's 6.17% rather than Abbey's 8% (and the 10% Monthly Saver)?
b) would it be sensible to run two current accounts with different banks that give you certain privileges if you pay in £1000 every month? This may mean having the salary paid into account A, then transfer at least £1000 from A to B every month, possibly by standing order, and then make all direct debit/standing order payments from B. This way everybody is happy. Is there a technical or other reason this is not possible or sensible?

I opened my monthly saver on 23rd Nov 2006. Is there any way of telling whwther it's a 1 year or 2 year account? I thought mine was a 1 year.Happy chappy0

On the copy of the terms and conditions you signed and should have had a copy of at account opening.0

The 2 year saver was withdrawn, and replaced with a 1 year saver, in March this year (there's a clue in the thread titletomstickland wrote: »I opened my monthly saver on 23rd Nov 2006. Is there any way of telling whwther it's a 1 year or 2 year account? I thought mine was a 1 year.

Mine was opened mid December last year (a month after yours) and is 2 years.
For the definitive answer though, scroll down to the very bottom of this page...

I wanted to revive this as the date is drawing near for the early accounts to mature. My account still has 2 payments left to make but I don't want it to all go into a Tracker account. Got it earmarked for spends!! :j
If anyone wants to share their interest again then it would be most interesting.0 -

My 2-year account ends in August, when the proceeds, doubtlessly, will be moved elsewhere immediately.0
