Help - Quick !!! Bought a Mis-priced item online but won't be honoured

Bought a shower on Amazon (via a seller) for £5 (second hand).

Got email to say purchase confirmed, then one to say item dispatched. Then got one from the company saying it was a technical error and they won't honour the sale and want to issue a refund.

I still want the item for £5. What are my rights?

Help please!!!

  • Imagine you're selling something worth £500. You type £5 by mistake. Would YOU sell it for a fiver?

  • In answer to your question, no I wouldn't, but I wouldn't take the persons money for it either and tell them the sale is confirmed and then later dispatched.

Read the two threads but neither answers the question about once a company has physically taken your money, given you a recipt and confirmed the order.

This is all automated by the system, acceptance hasn't taken place because a computer can only do what it's programmed to do.
It takes a human to accept your order that's why it can be cancelled when mistakes are noticed, at this point your offer is rejected and you are issued a refund.

this isn't just on the internet, a shop can refuse to sell at the ticket price also, acceptance has to take place where ever you shop.
  • Thanks Bris.
