My favourite butter is Meggle Alpine Butter but unless you've a Waitrose near you (and I don't since I moved) you'll struggle to find it. I agree that President is good. A very nice unsalted butter at a bargain price is Lidl's Morning Fresh for 98p.
  • J Sainsburys butter sold on the deli counter, yum yum!

I often get aldi or lidl's own brand salted and I agree with the other poster they used to do a welsh creamy butter but it isn't in all the time. However our aldi is going to be extended this year and extra lines brought in so it may reappear.

Best butter hands down is the farm butter from my local farm shops-if you really want you can even thank the "ladies" who provided the milk/cream to make it at one of the shops but leaning over the field gate lol.

The facts are on a large scale across the west we as a whole eat far lower levels of saturated and indeed any fat than we ever have in the past, yet rates of obesity and heart failure are soaring. To my mind study after study seems to be leading to only one conclusion, the more processed a product is, the less our bodies seem to like it. Plus greatly reduced levels of activity-not particularly exercise, just general day to day movement, are killing us.

So butter all the way for us.

President unsalted for me too. Also it's £1.55 in my local Waitrose, as opposed to £1.60 in Sainsburys.
    Every little helps.
Also £1.55 in Tesco but my Sainsbury's is a whopping £1.78!

Lurpak - the only butter we ever had when I lived at home. When I got married, it was the only butter I was going to have. DH was brought up on Anchor (I have always disliked salted butter).

I only buy it nowadays when it is on special offer and make sure I have some in the freezer for emergencies.
  • I like clover but butter wise - i do like country life or lurpack! yum!

Love President butter but only the salted one and I can't find it anywhere, I'm sure we've had it in this country before. Reminds me of holidays in France.
    Unsalted butter tastes like lard!
Tend to buy value/whatever's on offer though cos I mostly use it in cooking.
