Butter..... best tasting ?
Comments

For me the best tasting is Lurpak. Solid is better, spreadable is more convenient.
Unfortunately, due to the price I've stopped buying it and moved to supermarket own brand. Which just means I use less of it cos I'm not as keen on it, so works better for the old diet4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
President unsalted (solid) for me0

It's down to personal taste - there can be no definitive 'best'.
Personally, I like Lurpak and hate both President and Anchor, but that's just what suits me.
As long as no one offers me margarine - that would be just asking for a clip round the ear'ole!0 -
Shops own brand eg basics or the next 1 up, either salted to unsalted. Not tried President or Lurpak.
Tried willow which was fine and country life but dont think I thought much of it taste wise.0 -

Discount the fact that it's the Daily Mail, as the article is written by Joanna Blythman, an award winning investigative journalist, specialising in food. She's written five books including The Food We Eat, Bad Food Britain and How to Avoid GM. She writes for The Guardian and is a member of the expert panel of The Grocer.
My mother was one of those kind-hearted housewives refered to in the article, who switched her family from butter to Flora when her husband was diagnosed with high cholesterol. Low fat everything did nothing for him and he died earlier than he should have done from heart disease.
When OH and I first moved in together we couldn't afford butter for all the sandwiches OH seemingly inhaled while working on tools. As soon as he switched to a management job (after going to college evening classes) the first thing we decided to spend money on was switching to butter.
Best butter IMO is President, a lactic butter from Normandy. The organic version isn't available in the UK
OH tolerates spreadable organic Yeo Valley or spreadable organic Lurpak for rolls at work. We often use Netherend Farm organic ghee (clarified butter) to cook delicate-flavoured food with eg fried eggs, button mushrooms.0 -
Lurpak is top of my list...one of my favourite things is a nice fresh bread roll with lurpak. Yumm!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
