It's got to be solid, it's got to be salted and its got to be President..... it just tastes SO much better than anything else.

I don't trust spreadables. All that plasticising to make it spread - can't be good for you can it?
You had me at your proper use of "you're".
  • It has to be spreadable these days - and I particularly like Country Life
2011: £10 Sports Direct Voucher, Peppa Pig Wii Game, Trivial Pursuit Card Game, £100 Chat magazine win, Dance workout dvd, Grease wii game,
  • Solid Lurpak salted on toast.. mm nom nom nom
  • I like Colliers which is made with sea salt but only buy it when there is no offers on other brands. Lurpak is bottom of the list for me, I can think of quite a few times when have chosen to pay more for other brands rather than buying lurpak when it's the only one on offer.
I only buy proper butter (usually salted) I never buy spreadable as it's no better than margarine IMO.

In light of the recent press items, in your view, who makes or provides the best tasting butter ?

    Solid or spreadable ?
Thats a tough question as I like both.

For me Lurpak is the best tasting butter, but convenience rests with spreadable. I used to like Utterly Butterly, up until they introduced their new improved flavour which made it taste awful. The same happened with Anchor spreadable, new flavour, awful taste.

I am currently with; I cant believe its not....but have no doubt this too will succumb to a new awful flavour at some point.

Margarine just tastes awful, but I think its because as a child we grew up using Stalk or Flora Margarine, which had this greasy texture and horrible lardy taste.

I remember as a child having dripping, which was utterly repulsive, effectively lard with salt.

  • Lurpak is best tasting. However at the mo using Lidl's own version of Lurpak called Norpak as it's a quid cheaper.
    PK! :money:
  • I tried a welsh butter from aldi. It was lovely but they don't seem to have had it again. Whatever is on offer will do for me.

Kerrygold softer butter. Spreads straight from the fridge..although it's better if you leave it out a few minutes. This is pure butter,no additives apart from salt.
