I would be depressed if that were the case. This is the 21st century and not WW2.
Personally I don't believe that people ate potatoes tinned in pineapple juice as fake pineapple, knowingly.0 -

Seems such a waste.
Wonder if they were knackered horses or bred solely for meat?0 -
Chevalburger, good one Edwardia!
Seriously though, what is happening to all this (stlll healthy) food that's being pulled off supermarket shelves? Surely it shouldn't go to waste?0 -

The point is that we don't know whether it's safe to eat and, terrifyingly, neither does the food industry.
The latest news is that French-produced Findus lasagne might be up to 100 per cent horsemeat and has been removed from shelves.
If heads don't roll for this, there will have been a serious miscarriage of justice. Why are we paying for a Foods Standard Agency and all the rest of the, clearly useless, government apparatus?0 -
I've not heard of any evidence that products containing horsemeat pose any threat to human health.0

I'm not sure anyone would tell the public if they found anything amiss with the equine variation frankly.
I refuse to believe that none of the companies involved had any idea their extremely cheap burgers and not so cheap lasagne contained horse,
If it hadn't been for the new test FSAI did in Eire, we still would be none the wiser.0 -

From FSA via BBC website: The FSA said: "We have no evidence to suggest that this is a food safety risk. However, the FSA has ordered Findus to test the lasagne for the veterinary drug phenylbutazone, or 'bute'.
Info about 'bute': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenylbutazone
I'm guessing it may all be just 'cautious'. I became vegetarian 12 years ago and at the moment I'm happy I chose to do that!0 -

If it can't be traced then of course it poses a risk.0 -
